-6,73,630 passenger vehicles were exported during FY19.

- The top five passenger vehicle exporters (Ford, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, General Motors & Volkswagen India), contributed near to 85 per cent of the total passenger vehicle exports

- The top three PV exporters contributed over 64 per cent to the total exports.

- Though there was a considerable drop in exports,Ford retained its top spot.

- Irony is though GM exited from its domestic sales, it becomes the 4th largest exporter and that too with only one model - BEAT

-VW & Nissan's exports seems to be offtrack as of now. Both registered a double digit degrowth of -30.5% & -15% respectively. Primarily due to gap in the models sold here ( old platform)

It is incredible that 6+ years after the global launch, there is still so much demand for this car. I wonder where the bulk of this export goes to, I know Ford shifted production intended fro the European market to Romaina last year. During my inernational travels, I see a few Ecosport cars in Mexico, but very rarely do I see these in the US. It is a bit too small for the US consumer's tastes, especially given fuel prices are well in control, around $2.50 a gallon lately. It is probably well suited for Rural and small town Mexico, where roads are worse than India. In any case, this is one great package of a vehicle, good enough on space, rugged enough for rough roads, sufficient presence and solid feel for the occasional highways trips, small enough to park nearly everywhere in busy city streets.

November-19 exports, Ford EcoSport in lead. Export figures of EcoSport, Sunny, Vento and Aspire are more than those sold in the domestic market

I don't think Suzuki will ever allow India to grow as an export base. For the Hamamatsu hq the Indian Market is a milking cow and nothing else.

All these years Maruti used the excuse, 'cannot meet domestic demand hence exports are low' , what's the excuse now?!

Had Maruti upped it's export game, then they would not have to moan about idle capacity during a domestic market downturn. It would have done the country's exchequer a lot of good as well and provide security to thousands of employees. Disappointed!

Maruti Suzuki beats Hyundai in Feb-20 exports,

Quote:

Maruti Suzuki’s total exports rose 7% year-on-year to 10,261 units in February
Quote:

Hyundai's exports declined 22 per cent to 8,900 units

The Baleno that Maruti exports, is it exactly the same as what's sold here? Any insights into this? People say Baleno has extremely poor build and doubt it's safety capability. If Maruti is exporting Baleno to any market that has stringent safety norms, then are they making any modifications?
