Loved the dual tone interiors and I agree, the tacho console is plain weird
Also, I noticed the steering wheel has a different panelling too. I personally liked the silver one better

Great, thanks for correcting me. I got confused with the "Leather Pack" section.

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

So total of blatant omissions -
  • Request sensor on Door handles (do correct me if i am wrong, but i dont see it anywhere)
  • Only 2 reverse sensors (wonder how much cost was saved)
  • Front center Armrest from DCT SX# (need Holmes to figure out )
    • Sliding Armrest only on SX#
  • Curtain airbags on SX# DCT
  • Rear Wiper from SX# DCT
We would have had a winner if this were addressed.

I have booked a SX# DCT in Deep Forest.

Yet to see the car in person, but first impressions leave a sour taste in my mind even before meeting the car in person. While the pricing is a winner, Hyundai has tried to win all grounds with pricing and throwing in a few chocolates but has left out the pudding.

So, SX DCT do not get armrests. Neither at the front, nor at the back.

What stupidity is this?

P.S. They seem to have changed the SX+ DCT nomenclature to SX DCT, as is evident from their brochure and booking page.

Folks, any media drive opinions yet on the DCT? I called the showroom and they said the test drive vehicle will be available 2 days later.

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

Features of SX(O) over SX

1. Six airbags
2. Electronic stability control, Vehicle Stability Management & Hill assist control
3. Smart key
4. Chrome door handles
5. Fabric + leather seats
6. Sliding front armrest
7. Supervision cluster
8. IC light adjustment
9. 60:40 split rear seats
10. Touchscreen with telematics
11. Bluelink
12. Push button start/stop
13. Air purifier
14. Wireless charger
15. Rear center armrest with cup holders
16. Rear wiper and washer
17. Leather door armrests

That is quite an extensive feature difference between the two models and it seems to justify the 1Lac premium as well. But, the SX variant seems to be the most bang for the buck

It may not be a printing mistake. See the below comparison from this Creta link:

Creta Top-end SX(O) which comes only in Manual has HAC.

That E variant looks like it is there just for that low 'starts from' price. A quick look at the brochure shows that it does not get any kind of audio system, no rear power windows and no height adjustment for the driver seat. That's pretty absurd for a car costing 8 Lakhs on road.

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

I have a query. The brochure says with Deep Forest Color the interior theme is Khakhi Dual Tone. So, in that case, will the DCT Deep Forest color have the Khaki interior theme or black?
Can anyone share the picture of the Khaki interior theme? It seems the rings around the FATC is different in color (Orange)

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

If you keep aside the 1.2P variants, there is nothing too exciting about the prices right? Yes, it is lesser than what Hyundai usually asks for, but if you forget the useless 1.2L variants, the rest of the prices are in par with competition.

The 1.2L versions will be discontinued as soon as Hyundai rake up some sales. And people better stay clear from them. They will surely be a horrible to drive.

And I am miffed at manufacturers like Maruti and Hyundai who think AT owners do not deserve to have extra airbags and other safety features (or vice versa).

A bit confused on the 3 yrs III Party column in the screenshot
The Venue has 3 years unlimited kms warranty.
Are the dealers charging extra for this?

I also see Handling charges + Smart Tag Charges + Standard Fitment charges? Does a end customer have to bear this charges?

This is for the 3-year mandatory third party insurance cover. Nothing to do with vehicle warranty.

Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. Edit: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs.

Hyundai has been smart to understand that the current market environment is not conducive for any premium positioning, especially for a new car. I believe they also learnt from their mistakes in the way they priced the new Santro, which should have been competing with the Wagon R now, but rather doing numbers that are lower then the Grand i10.

What is left for the Venue to prove is its actual mettle.
How good is it in terms ride, handling and general quality levels. The Ecosport and even the new XUV300 seem to have raised the bar in terms of overall quality levels. For Hyundai though the task is slightly easier. They have to somehow make the car look and feel better than the Brezza in most customer touch points. That is half the battle won right there.
Lets wait for some actual first drive reports to flow in.

3 yrs Third Party is insurance coverage. It has nothing to do with warranty. A comprehensive insurance plan consists of two components in general (Own Damage and a Third Party Damage component). In the legal parlance, it is compulsory for a vehicle owner to possess a Third Party Insurance even though one may drive without having any own damage coverage. TP insurance helps in cases when one meets with an accident and causes damage to a Third-party.

These are standard across car dealerships these days. Smart Tag has been made mandatory by the Govt. and it costs almost the same to get it outside. Handling charges cannot usually be refused. But standard fitment(generally the mats, mudguards, etc) can usually be had free from the dealer if we are good at negotiating.
