God!!! Such a detail review. I was eagerly waiting for this one. Saw many reviews of this car, but none were in such detail. This is only possible at Team-BHP.
To end the review with that parallel docking and captain's photo was icing on the cake.

It's good to see that Hyundai is offering 1.0L turbo petrol to higher end models. Good move Hyundai!!!

1.4L diesel is already doing duty in Creta and should be capable enough to pull this car at good speeds as it is lighter than Creta.

Great revealing! I'm just excited about the level of connectivity they are bringing in. In this segment, it's great to see this level of support from a company. It will improve the safety of traveling in India. Provided the support lives up to the noise they are making.

My predictions:

1.2L E starts at 8L Ex-showroom, 1.0L SX Manual being the sweet spot around 9.8L. Top model DCT SX+/SX(O) manual to retail around 11L. Would be interesting to see the feature spread between SX/SX+ DCT and SX(O).

Keeping in mind the Verna, SX manual should be decently loaded, sans the bluelink connectivity options (limited to SX(O) manual and SX+ DCT).

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

Manufacturers really need to dump the feature rationalization approach to equipping their Indian offerings. Why not offer an all-essentials-included standard car, and make the more expensive loaded variants on order?

Much better than current pick-x-out-of-y features practice that nobody's happy with, on a car that still costs a bomb anyway.

I wish the six airbag trim was an option among lower variants too. This is my main gripe with Hyundai. While a lot of manufacturers have started to spec their cars such that safety is standard across the board, Hyundai lags behind (and they do this with all their models).

Great review. Details on the variants revealed needed. I really don't understand why Hyundai can't reveal the feature list per variant if they can open the booking based on variant. Not having key safety features(6 airbags a must) on DCT SX+ would be a deal breaker for many.

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

Very nice preview there! Thumps up to the team.

With the 1.2 petrol only reserved for entry level variants (Creta like strategy with 1.4 diesel), it is clear that Hyundai is targeting an aggressive price. Also, they will be expecting much of their sales from these 2 variants, just like Creta E/E+ brings them good volumes. The aam junta might not like the idea of a small 1.0-litre engine on a million+ rupee car. The enthusiast will surely know what that engine means.

Thank you very much

Hyundai has done a brilliant job with its variants. Hopefully one auto variant will be under 10L ex-showroom.

1.2 is just there for the sticker price I guess.

Apart from the fancy connectivity options, which will come anyway in the top end models, why should i buy this over say a Ecosport ?

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

The preview felt like a mini review

Looking forward to their 1L turbo. Could see the redline at 7k RPMs, which is brilliant for a turbo petrol. Lets hope it loves to get revved

Looks pretty decent though the front grill is very gaudy. The interiors look nice.

I was under the impression that the MG Hector will be the first car that will bring those mobile connectivity options (under 20 lacs) but Hyundai Venue it has to be. Well done Hyundai!

From the top of my head:
1. Better rear seating space
2. Better boot space
3. BlueLink
4. Hyudai's ASS
5. Hyundai's Reliability (Ford's JV etc. etc.)
6. Better mileage (hoping)
7. Brand new offering
8. Better brand recognition
9. Sweet looks
10. Price (this is a Hail Mary)
11. Better re-sale value

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

Great preview! Almost as good as a full review in terms of interiors and aesthetics.

The on-line bookings having opened, I went to check out the booking page. The form reveals the following variants are going to be available. I don't know if I have a scoop here or this information is already known!

The following are the petrol variants:
  • 1.2 Kappa MT E
  • 1.2 Kappa MT S
  • 1.0 Turbo GDI MT S
  • 1.0 Turbo GDI MT SX
  • 1.0 Turbo GDI MT SX Dual Tone
  • 1.0 Turbo GDI MT SX (O)
  • 1.0 Turbo GDI DCT S
  • 1.0 Turbo GDI DCT SX+

The following are the Diesel Variants:
  • 1.4 CRDI MT E
  • 1.4 CRDI MT S
  • 1.4 CRDI MT SX
  • 1.4 CRDI MT SX Dual Tone
  • 1.4 CRDI MT SX (O)

It looks like they are going to focus heavily on the 1.0 Turbo petrol engine (versus the 1.2 NA engine) with multiple manual and DCT variants. There should be one in every price bracket with a whole wide range in pricing. Interestingly the 1.0 T-GDI does not get a base E variant and the 1.2 NA Petrol does not get any variants above S, suggesting a price straddling strategy stating rock bottom with the 1.2 NA and stepping up through various mid and high manual variants of the 1.0 T-GDI and ending up at the high end with the T-GDI+DCT

re: Hyundai Venue : Official Preview. EDIT: Launched @ 6.5 lakhs

Take a bow Sir! This is miles ahead of any other review online!

Just booked the Venue, 1.4 Diesel at the dealership level at Mukesh Hyundai, Kolkata. Booking amount - ₹21,000

Preferred the dealer directly because the full specifications are not available yet (I guess will be made public on 21st May)

The dealer didn't ask us to choose a specific trim, only the engine option.

They said they'll call back post launch and ask us to choose the colour and specific variant. Seemed quite logical to me instead of being in two minds about SX and SX(O) and the price differences.

With respect to the HDFC Bank Cashback scheme online, apparently it's only applicable for cars being financed by HDFC and not for all bookings using HDFC cards

That said the only attraction of booking online is the Zero Processing Fees & Extended Warranty that Hyundai's offering (not clear about duration also!)

Realistically, between 13.5 to 14 Lakhs on-road Mumbai. If the top spec DCT doesn't skimp on too many features, and the drive is good, I shall proceed with the purchase.
