re: Mahindra Thar Signature Edition on cards. Edit: Launched at 9.99L

1. IMHO, all these so called special features can easily be done at good fabrication shops and I believe any of these shops can make a normal THAR at par to this so called special edition.
2. However, it would have been better there was a improved engine under the hood with better functional upgrades. That would have made it indeed special.

Thanks

The seat covers are nothing too special to write home about. I don't see why people should not get a Thar in the colour of their choice and slap on some used second generation scorpio wheels (paint the old wheels satin black), while at it paint the grill fascia black and give the interior a proper Stanley/Saddles treatment. Voila! A custom special edition! I was expecting at least something exciting like the original Mahindra Legend or how about some fancy wheels to mimic a Mahindra Classic? The ABS is a welcome addition for sure but shouldn't that be standard anyway? How about two front facing bucket seats with proper seatbelts rather than the troop carrying layout along with a roll cage? Lots of questions and of course feels like a missed opportunity to lure in enthusiasts even more. Can't wait for the next gen though but I'm scared of the proportions going for a toss owing to the increased width. Oh Well. Too much on the wish list.

And now this is formally launched.

Link to RushLane article. Launched at 10L

The only noteworthy difference are the old-design Mahindra alloys. Rest are really quite useless additions. It really is an end of an era as probably we will never see the iconic MM550 chassis again. Our beloved Behram Dhabhar sir's last iconic Jeep at Mahindra before moving to Tata.
As a last hurrah, M&M could have done something much better than this really rudimentary sticker job IMHO...Just calling it a signature edition & plonking alloy wheels doesn't do the job I think. And those alloys aren't really suiting the Thar's personality either.

MODS - might be worth changing the heading of this thread now that it is launched?

Nope. I don't need the decals or the Thar logo on my seats.

All they had to do was launch the South Africa spec Adventure edition as the limited 700 run in India and I would have been the first person standing in line to get one.

Alas, missed opportunities! A good move would've garnered so much excitement in the existing and the upcoming BS6 Thar.
