re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

New Scorpio spied again! Benchmarking with Ford Endeavour.

Quote:
the upcoming model will be larger in dimensions and could offer forward facing third row seats with the 6 seater model sporting captain seats in second row. Though its exteriors are completely hidden from view, it does appear to be longer and taller as compared to its current counterpart.

Great shots, alongside the Endeavour for comparison. Glad to note that the 2022 Scorpio looks as imposing as the Endeavour if not more, at least from these pictures. Commanding road presence guaranteed Seems to be another runaway success in the making for Mahindra, after Thar and XUV 7OO. Can't wait to see it in flesh.

Dealers are attending the 2022 Scorpio's boot camp right now, as we speak. We should get plenty of confirmed updates on Mahindra's newest offering in the next 10-12 days.

6-seater option is a definite. Should be available at launch.

The 7OO will also be available with a 6-seater variant at a later date.

Hearsay from an insider - This is unlikely to be launched as Scorpio. It will be a separate model in the line up. Current gen Scorpio will see another refresh and will be sold alongside this.

That's interesting. Makes sense though. This could be the official Alturas replacement. It has the presence to compete with Fortuner anyway.

Sounds interesting. I believe MandM could repeat the XUV 700 strategy, have both 5 seater and 7 seater versions. But benchmarking against the Endy or the fortuner or Gloster could push the prices further up. Not sure about that approach though.

I hope they don't kill the Scorpio brand name, it was the soul of the brand and it should continue in one form or the other

Would be a stupid shtoopid move IMO.

Don't think Mahindra would do that.

1. They won't place this model above the XUV700.

2. Going against Fortuner segment? Nope. Launch the next gen Scorpio as the present Scorpio replacement. Develop a new SUV on the same platform, larger in size, pump up the engine output, throw in more gizmos and then price it at Alturas price range.

Chances are there, because:

1. It is being tested along with Endeavour. M&M may be eyeing a cheaper alternative to the Endeavour and not replace current Scorpio.
2. Ford has exited India. BOF Fortuner has a free run now.
3. New names registered, like ScorpioN or Scorpio Sting. Source: https://www.rushlane.com/mahindra-sc...-12385980.html
4. Pratap Bose would like to have a new name altogether.

But at any cost, they won't let go the "Scorpio" part from it for sure - either of the above names, or Scorpio 700, Super Scorpio, Grand Scorpio...

If current gen Scorpio continues with a refresh, then there is hardly any scope to place new Scorpio/ScorpioN between the current Scorpio and XUV7OO without overlapping either of them.

I think M&M might just go ambitious enough to place ScorpioN above the XUV7OO. Sincerely hope, they don't do it.

I can clearly spot Hormazd and Renuka from Autocar India (7 sec onwards). It seems they spotted it at some food court on highway and are checking car inside out or are they being stopped by Mahindra people and hence they all are in huddle?

This is a fact, as I had posted about this earlier in my exclusive scoop in December 2021:

And here is the proof. Caught last night on a testing run by BHPian GautamJ - the present-gen Scorpio with the new Mahindra logo on the front grille. Some minor changes can be expected on the lower part of the body too, judging from the partial camouflage.

re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Seeing that they are testing the new and the old Scorpios together, what we are hearing now seems to be true. But how will they position all these SUVs pricewise ?
Is it going to be Scorpio < 3 door Thar < 5 door Thar < New Scorpio < XUV700 or Scorpio < 3 door Thar < 5 door Thar < XUV700 < New Scorpio. They will also have the XUV500 coming in right ?

Maybe Mahindra plans for an overlapping model range , where the Thar range are the focused offroaders , the Scorpio range is an all rounder and the XUV range is more "urban" ?

something like :
[current scorpio] <
[3Door thar ]
[5Door thar = New scorpio = next-gen xuv500] <
[xuv700]

re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

My 2013 Scorpio has proved to be a great workhorse and has never let me down. However age is slowly catching up with it and have been looking for a replacement. From the available offerings in the market, I haven’t been able to select anything which would be a value for money replacement to my Scorpio.
So eagerly waiting for Mahindra to launch this.
