re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Looks like the rain channels are gone for good ... Overall silhouette looks like Safari, though it could end up looking much different as per M&M design language.
What's the chance this is shared with Ford BTW?

re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

With the current top end Scorpio retailing at almost 18 lacs on road, topping it up with the progressive pricing of the newer generation and an expensive BS6 diesel I doubt the new Scorpio will be cheap to buy. I see it touching 20-24 lacs and venturing into the territory of finer products. Nevertheless the clientage of the Scorpio will never mind paying more for a mere lack of proper substitute and the Scorpio brand value.

The current scorpio 4wd was 20+ on road in bangalore, the last time I tested it. I did not find it overpriced after a drive 😊, that engine markets itself.

Someone here has rendered it based on the pictures.

Looks more Safariish to me with little bit of XUV. Don't you think so?

Well the photoshop jobs have to start somewhere !!

I really hope it does not go the safari way. It needs to retain the toothy overdone arachnid looks and the stance, this is what keeps it apart from the crowd and not look like a Sumo, like it or not it works.

The current design lost the tooth for jeep compass like grill which I think was a bad idea(its easy to revert to the tooth)

This was actually made using the silhouette of the spy shots but I have been getting a lot of comments which say it resembles the Safari. I feel this is probably because the boxy design of the current Scorpio will be replaced by a more aerodynamic form which the Safari had from the start, especially the raked front windshield and a slanting rear end.

By the way if anyone would like to see how this render was created I have posted a video here

Neatly designed there .

The stance does remind one of the first generation Safari. The lines look clean and butch. I hope this comes with a high safety score.

Cheers !

Small world isn't it? Thanks for the render, it's a conversation starter.

I felt that the beltline is slightly taller(in the spy shots) than the current model and certainly the safari, they both have lower beltline currently like mk1 Range Rover, you sit on the car rather than in it.

Its possible that they may lower the seating in comparison to the beltline probably for side impact protection etc.

Thanks!

I think the new models coming out from Mahindra are much better than what we have seen earlier. The Marazzo and the XUV300 have a really attractive design but I still feel Tata Motors is way ahead in terms of styling than Mahindra.

re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Seeing the spy shots, especially the second set, it does look like the Scorpio has lost out on its former visual appeal. I am happy wiht the evolution though, and knowing Mahindra they will surely do what's needed to make it end up looking aggressive. I just hope it's not overdone.

More images: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio (Codenamed: Z101)

Thanks to Prabhanjan Tattar for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

The next generation Mahindra Scorpio (codenamed: Z101) was last seen near Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu. The SUV has now been spotted again on the Chennai-Puducherry highway.

The latest spy images give us a better look at the proportions of the new Scorpio. It appears larger than the current generation but the overall shape looks familiar. It is likely to get new wraparound tail lamp clusters that slightly protrude out of the bodywork. At the front, the new model is expected to get a redesigned grille with vertical slats. At present, the test vehicle appears to be sporting dummy headlights and turn signals.

The next generation Scorpio is expected to be based on a ladder frame chassis and could be powered by a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine with an output of 158 BHP. The SUV could be offered with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox as well as four-wheel drive.

Why is Mahindra testing the next gen Scorpio with the Chevy Spark inspired tail lamps?

The Scorpio's design was a rugged and much loved one that really stood the test of times for over a decade and a half. I really hope they would not spoil it with quirky elements and kill the product.

Now that the Safari has almost been killed by Tata, we have no real-SUV in that space. We have spruced up hatchbacks that have taken that space up. So the Scorpio really needs to have good on-roads manners to make it work this time around.

It seems like one lifted from Jeeto , its common to use non-standard parts during testing.

Tata has even used lamps from their trucks in passenger cars while testing on road.

re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

It looks a size longer than the existing Scorpio. May be because of the lower roof line. This will be great competition to buzzard/cassini . Even the slightest increase in price over the current Scorpio will push it over the 20 lakh mark ; which is where seven seater harrier might debut.
