Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Curious to see how the body roll on this vehicle would be. A lot in our family sold the vehicle as our roads made the vehicle especially the middle row bounce like a kids bouncy ball.

How are the new XUV 700 owners dealing with it?

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Some more details provided by birdie:-

- Rear differential lock present.
- The Terrain Response Modes, activated by the central rotary knob beside the gear lever, is called "4Xplore" (Four-Explore) in Mahindra slang. (not 4Matic, as I mistakenly said earlier)
- The four Terrain Response Modes are Rough Road, Snow, Mud & Water.
- As confirmed earlier, 2H/4H/4L present for the 4x4 enthusiasts.
- AWD is present in diesel variants only. No petrol AWD on offer.
- AWD to be offered in both diesel MT & diesel AT variants.
- Cars were shod in the 17-inch/18-inch alloy wheels of the 7OO. Same profile tyres. The new alloy design for the Scorpio-N was surprisingly absent.
- Body roll is well controlled for passengers in the 2nd row, even through moderately high speed cornering.
- Double-barrel LED headlamps.
- Seating for the captain row variants will be in 2+2+2 and 2+2+3 layouts.
- Separate working AC present for 2nd row occupants. Will continue to work even if the front AC is shut off by the driver or the front passenger.
- No ventilated seats given. Neither at front nor in the middle row.
- 2nd row AC vents provided in the central console only. Same as 7OO, but get a separate On/Off switch.
- No AC vents provided for the 3rd row passengers. Front and middle row ACs are deemed powerful enough to cool entire cabin.
- It's to be called "Scorpio-N" ("N" being separate from Scorpio), not "Scorpion". "N" means infinity for the Scorpio-N.
- White shade will be Pearl White. Unlike Everest White of the 7OO.
- Dsat Silver, Red Rage, Napoli Black colour shades to continue. Deep Forest (green), an all-new shade of Blue, and brushed Gold will be the 3 new colour shades on offer.

Maddy
Bouncy ride was more due to pitching and less due to roll. Inherent issue with short wheelbase and poor weight distribution. Considering that M&M managed much better dynamics with Marazzo, better stance, apparently longer wheelbase, the Scorpio N should hopefully be much better.

Thanks a lot for all the information!

Can you please find out from the birdie whether the 2nd row seats in 7 seater version have the sliding option unlike XUV7OO.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Does that mean Petrol MT and AT will be launched only with two wheel drive? Thats very disappointing.

Thanks RavenAvi.
Disappointed though. While I loved the ScorpioN for everything it offered, this is a big bummer for me. I need the 7 seater (with a bench seat in the 2nd row) and someone sitting in the third row feels betrayed!

As confirmed by @ravenavi, the 4x4 will be offered in Diesel only (like the XUV700). Wanted to get the 4x4 AT Top trim in Petrol to save self from BS6 hassles. Looks like would have to go with Diesel (which I love except the DPF issues).

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

The specs are nice. I like how it looks in the press images too.

Would have considered it if it came out an year ago. Will definitely go for a test drive once it is out.

Sorry, just curious, what makes you to not consider it now?

And if not considering now why to waste a test drive?

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Looks rad in person, also the headlights, projector for low beam, and led reflectors for high have an amazing throw, was right behind me in the tunnel! Loved the stance, though sits real high from the ground. Body roll, whaaa..?

I am struggling to understand this. Does this mean the 3rd row will also have two configurations? In most cars (except maybe the likes of Carnival?), the 3rd row is meant for 2 even in the bench layout. Please elaborate on this if you have further insights on this. Thank you!

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

I really like the specs shared by RavenAvi so far. The looks are also fine by me. Only thing i want to see is handling, suspensions and body roll ( i know it is supposed to be there but should be in a “sorted” manner).
If that is the case i would be booking as it looks perfect for my use case of having a SUV to accommodate family of 3 humans + 2 canines. There should be enough space for them and luggage once third row seats are removed ( i intend to do this). Also absence of panaromic sunroof ensures installation of carrier for luggage on long trips which i intend to do a lot more now. Waiting for launch and review from the team here.

Good to know the Scorio-N's offroad credentials. 47 deg. descent is certainly oustanding - but 57 deg. ascent angle - and that too without a low ratio transfer case really streches one's credulity sensors!

A couple of questions:

1. Is it an AWD or a 4x4? AWD will be auto selection, 4x4 will be a manual selection

2. Any dope on the last row configurations? Does the 2+2+2 mean side-facing seats?

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Being based on the Thar platform and being a RWD by default, Scorpio will be a 4x4 (switchable) and not AWD. XUV7OO is an AWD (optional on top variant).

Sitting configurations will be 2 + 3 (bench) + 3 (possibly, as the 3rd row seat looks similar to Xylo. but will be considered as 2 only as there could be some creature comforts for the last row like arm rests, mobile charger + holder etc.)

Other configuration will be 2 + 2 (bucket seats in middle row) + 2 at the last row considering above points.

Also, if M&M is building Scorpio-N on Thar platform with same or higher engine tunes, wonder why would they not offer 4x4 on the petrol variant.

AFAIK, 4x4 has to have a low transfer case, otherwise it will be AWD mode only. So 2H, 4H and 4L has to be there in Scorpio if they come out with 4x4.

Regards,
