Hopefully they continue with RWD option than follow the herd.

- The turbo diesel option might be offered in two states of tune - a higher 160/170BHP & a lower 130BHP for the starting price variant.

- The petrol option will most likely be in the same tune as the Thar & the 7OO.

- Rumored starting price would be near the 12.99L mark for the 160/170BHP diesel variants.
Quoting from my own exclusive scoop posted back in December 2021, so that all these recent "scoops" and "rumours" are put to rest.

1) The all-new Scorpio will sit below the 7OO in pricing/segment. It was never meant to be a D-segment Endeavour/Fortuner/Kodiaq segment competitor. It will be marketed as "comforts and driveability of D-segment SUVs at an affordable price."

2) 130BHP is for the starting diesel variant of the all-new Scorpio (S2?) so that it will be launched with a "killer" introductory price, ala the XUV7OO/5OO. Now that the 7OO has been moved up the pricing range, and the MX variants stand a chance to be discontinued in the future, there is a price gap for the Scorpio to neatly slot itself into - possibly from 11.49L for the base petrol variant and 11.99L for the base 130BHP diesel variant. There's a possibility that it may go even further down for the introductory pricing, possibly from 10.99L for the base petrol. The price difference between petrol variants and diesel variants will be similar to the 7OO's lineup as well.

Of course, Mahindra will reserve the right to increase prices whenever they would want to. The product launch procedure will be exactly similar to the 7OO's campaign, which has made the 7OO such a roaring success from Day 1 of launch.

For the rest, please check my scoop by clicking on the quoted post above.

If this rumour of prices starting in the 11lac ballpark range holds true, it will simply pull the rug from underneath the likes of XL6, Carens etc.... the 3 row MPV market will be turned on it's head. Exciting times ahead for the buyer.

A more substantial, solid, safer car with a diesel engine offering. The maruti van will have a tough time.

How does this even make sense?
Firstly, the XL6 and Carens come fully loaded even in base variants with all the necessary safety and comfort features unlike the Scorpio (taking example of the 7OO)
Secondly, as we have seen with the XUV700 and with the boot space shown in Scorpio's spy pics, this rebirthed Xylo will take none of the buyers from Maruti or Kia! The XL6 and Carens have a different customer base and that is the customer who wants a reliable and pocket friendly workhorse, which the Scorpio obviously won't be! (It's a modern Mahindra)

I'm sometimes amused by some statements people make on this forum
Just seems like an illogical comparison IMO! I mean how difficult is it for people to understand that just because a car has a bigger engine and is bigger in dimensions, doesn't mean it will be the better car for the intended purpose lol! (Case in point, XL6/Carens vs Safari/XUV7OO- The smaller "vans" have much better space than these self-proclaimed SUVs!)

If the Scorpio will be bigger with a bigger engine, it will also have lesser fuel efficiency and lesser city-friendliness and also much higher maintenance! And hence, I doubt any sensible XL6-Carens buyer will switch! Will they be tempted? Yes! Will they switch after research? Not in the worst logic!

Also, even the XUV7OO MX was launched at a mouth watering price, would you care to let me know how many XUVs on roads are MX or how much have those awfully underequipped variants decreased the Creta's or Seltos's sales?

Totally agree. I am one of those who has booked Carens and waiting for it to be delivered, and I am secretly hoping the delivery gets delayed till the new Scorpio is revealed

Although Scorpio may not be a premium, comfortable family car as the Carens, but it's road presence and prices (if start from 11L) will be highly tempting to switch my booking.

Off topic.

Feels like those test car camouflages of the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Did anyone get an Alturas vibe?

Maybe they are talking about Alturas and not Scorpio? Afterall, Alturas is a D segment car.

The teaser is great. Excited for launch. Gives me vibes of tamil movie '24'. I think they went a little overboard with the daddy part. So much so it reminds me of daddy memes on Reddit. Also, how can they just simply use the Godfather theme at the end? Wouldn't there be any issues?

re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Either it has a long wheelbase or is short. There is nothing beyond the rear wheels. Not sure how they have put 7 seats into this. All this big daddy hype could get punctured when we see the vehicle.

Rear looks pretty odd.
Hoping they have learnt from the Xylo fiasco.

The chrome garnish on the window line looks like a scorpions stinger
and so do the foglamps and DRLs.

Could this really be named the Scorpio Sting?

Does the kink in the rear door/window line remind anyone else of the XUV 500?
