Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Since Scorpio is coming with RWD, it’s fuel economy would be better or worse then xuv700?

A high speed internet connection and 2-3 devices trying to login with more than 1 city dealer options. It always makes a difference of 6 months if you book at 10:01 AM or 10:59 AM.

Don't think fuel economy will vary much. Petrol is a guzzler returning single digits while diesel will be economical anyways. Have heard XUV 7OO Diesel owners claiming 16-17 kmpl on long drives whereas even a less powered That returns 7-9-10 kmpl on petrol.

FWD vs RWD makes a difference when the Car is loaded and more so when you are uphill and further more when off-road. FWD tend to loose traction a bit if the vehicle is rear loaded which it is obviously is with people and luggage on long drives. RWD's have an advantage here. so Scorpio, Thar are rear wheel drives even Fortuner and Endeavour which do off-roading but XUV500, 700 are soft roaders..not quite capable of off-roading as the RWD's.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Hopefully, prospective owners can worry less about reliability concerns for the new Scorpio with all issues resolved at assembly line given this product is technically less complex than XUV 700 plus issues related to XUV are known to Mahindra.

Essentially this product is only missing ADAS compared to the XUV 700. A sorted modern BOF vehicle will be as complex otherwise.

Niggles are typically part and parcel of any new product so expecting no issues is wishful thinking .

As always, there will be that batch of paying beta testers (early buyers) who will identify and help sort these niggles.

Not to single out Mahindra or TATA but these issues have started cropping up with all modern brands. There’s always a small risk in the first few batches of new cars these days.
I am not sure whether earlier it was the case or maybe earlier there wasn’t a portal where such issues were highlighted.

Mahindra should have launched the Big Daddy today on Daddy’s day.

Mahindra is old school that way. All said and done, Daddy's day is a foreign concept. There will be lot many to choose from upcoming festival days starting from independence day all the way to Diwali.

I will be pleasantly surprised if I can get my hands on new Scorpio this Diwali.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Is Scorpio going to be offered in 5 seat only configuration as well like the XUV700?

No. you can always remove the last row, however.

If any XUV700 owner is here, please share the tips on booking. Can't really wait for 6-12 months to get the delivery.

My observations:

1. Have multiple bookings, one from Metro and Tier-2 city.
2. Pre-book with the dealer by paying advance before the actual booking starts. Website may crash due to heavy user influx.
3. Mahindra's algorithm decides your delivery date and no one knows how it works It is based on model, location, color, transmission etc.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

A quick Q - Did Mahindra open the bookings on the same day as they announced the variants and pricing of XUV7OO? I am asking as I am getting mixed responses from dealers. Spoke to a couple of them - While one hinted that the bookings "might" open on 06/27, the other confirmed that there is no such communication from the OEM.

Its a Body on frame SUV with offroad hardware. Fuel economy is guaranteed to be noticeably worse than the XUV700 even without taking the additional weight of the car into account.
