Hi

Well I have been seeing several cars from the factor badged as "TURBO" do these cars / suv's actually have turbos spooling in them ?

what cars are you talking about.. i know the tavera has turbo badging and it does have a turbo.

So does the Indica Turbo.

The Scorpio too has turbo with badging

Any original company badging is true. Else the courts will drag all their behinds into massive repurcussions

Whatcanthisbe.

If a car comes out of a reputed factory with turbo badging, you can pretty much rest assured that it does indeed have a turbo in it.

However, its products that mention the word "turbo" that rarely ever have something to do with a turbo in the literal sense...

I think pajero has a huge turbo intercooler symbol...

PS: I have seen some autos and Omni's having huge "TURBO" stickers all over !! some even have 4x4 written ... (should ask them to correct it to 3x3 :-) )

Strange question - you may as well ask if the Skoda 1.9 TDi has a 1.9L engine in it.
No reputed company would put a pretend badge indicating clearly an engine spec.
In this day and age of wooing consumers, car companies give far more than promised. And these are very basic specs.

What does happen (and yes is very funny) is people putting pretend badges on their cars.

However, dont assume that the BMW 540 is a 5 series with a 4.0L (its a 4.4L), or the same for some Mercedes models, and a bunch of other manufacturers with strange labeling schemes etc etc...

Yup, C200K uses a 1.8 liter. But the K is still valid.

Like the Toyota Camry V3 and V4. They're just I4s.

Sam, stick to ICE!!!

A 540 is a 5 series, named by BMW, as per their nomenclature. The '540' does not have to mean anything more than what BMW intends it to be. BMW's naming is not on the lines of what this thread started off on ...

I've been wondering for quite sometime now... How much boost would the turbo on indica's & the tavera's be putting out?

My assumption is that the turbo on these cars is for smooth power delivery and not for sheer power, please correct me if I am wrong.

That's how BMW nomenclature works. A 325 would mean a 3 Series sporting a 2.5L engine, a 540 would be a 5 Series sporting a 4.0L engine. It was sort of similar for Mercedes too, a C200K would mean a C-Klasse with a 2.0L supercharged engine.

But not anymore, it's all gone horribly wrong somewhere.

well the question was initally asked as i dint notice any intercoolers which are essential for good turbo performance and give a good boost and i did not notice anyboost gauge or anything ... but thanks
