Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Ride comfort.

The only thing am looking forward in the C3. In today's car market where most high riders end up with stiff ride, even the more softer setups are just comfortable relatively.

Hope, Citroen brings its' half a century old legendary expertise in suspension tuning to the C3.

Edit: Know it is a chicken and egg situation, but they should really expand their service network.

Hummm.......
So NO auto box,No auto AC, Power windows switch in center, No push button start stop, no rear wash whipper, halogen lamps (with dual DRL !), Air Bags ?? ( No mention, presume to be only two) 3 pot engine....... Best case scenario they are going for Celario/Swift and likes anything more they can shoot themselves in the foot.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Citroen C3 India launch on July 20, 2022

Citroen is set to debut its second product in the Indian market next month. The C3 crossover will be launched on July 20, with official bookings opening on July 1, 2022.

The Citroen C3 is based on the brand's CMP modular platform. It will be positioned under the C5 Aircross and will compete with the likes of the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger.

Like the C5 Aircross, the C3 also features a funky exterior and will come with dual-tone colour options. Inside, the car gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.

The C3 will be offered with two petrol engine options. These include an 81 BHP 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated unit paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol making 108 BHP and 190 Nm. The latter will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. The claimed mileage figures for the 1.2-litre petrol is 19.8 km/l, while that of the turbo-petrol motor is 19.4 km/l.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

I see Manual AC. No automatic transmission option. Price range expected to be 7-12 lakhs. Just doesn't add up.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Saw a walk-around video of the car and this one screams cost-cutting.

In the video as per the host, the car in front of him was the top model and the alloy wheels were optional. But that's not all fixed headrest all around, low cushioning on seats, no rear wipers or defogger, hard plastics all around, etc.

IMHO if they are targeting Tata Punch and will keep it under 10 lakhs then also it would be a hard sell because the car's interior is downright cheap.

I think Citroen has misjudged the Indian market and Indian consumers. From the looks of the car, it looked like they are trying to be what Datsun was for Nissan in India and what Nissan did under Carlos Ghosn worldwide with their cars (read cost-cutting at every possible place).

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

The first impressions are that it is just a product with really good built quality and a nice engine ( The VW polo formula ?). It does not has a lot of gizmos and totally is not VFM if it will be priced in the 7 - 12 lakh bracket.

Nowdays people are only interested in the gizmos and quirky stuff in the car . This is going to be another flop car for Citroen if not priced sanely . It will beat Tata Punch in being the most overpriced micro - SUV . A price band of 5 - 10 lakh will be acceptable i guess .

Also how is Citroen going to manage to sell this car with it's small network of showrooms and reading some reviews of those Citroen showrooms on Team-BHP , It does not aspire much confidence in their aftersales service .

As it is said many times on the forum , It is a dead on arrival brand (Right now that is what all of Citroen's moves are saying).

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Citroen has some serious guts to not lunch an Automatic variant, which could have saved this a bit.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

I am wondering which customer segment is targeted and what are the USPs ?
Consumers prefer automatics these days. Is there an automatic - NO, not even AMT. Consumers want features, Gizmos, sunroof, Moonroof, God Knows what roof - Nothing.
We want a great, Fun / fuel-efficient engine. Let's wait for the verdict.
We want good interiors - there is nothing - Hard Plastics, Manual Windows, Fixed Headrests.

So what would take the customers to the Citroen Showrooms? Already there are only a handful. Will it be Price ? This is the only thing unknown at this time. However, I must point out that between 6 - 8 Lakhs, the market is dominated by Hyundai and Maruti and then closely by Tata.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Wondering what would be the strategy here by having only Manual as offering. The target audience for this segment is mostly Urban consumers who might be looking for an automatic(even AMT will do on budget). This looks too funky for rural audience anyway.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

The car doesn't even have a tachometer. Truly disappointing even for enthusiasts.

And that instrument cluster looks like an enlarged calculator screen.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Think this car would do great in a Tier 2/3 city, price it atbapr with an Alto/Celerio, give aspiration features ( large touch screen, digital or lack of spedo, funky colours, customised options, high GC, difficult to pronounce name).

Most 20-30yrs who would have been looking at an Alto or likes will have an option, with Santro also gone.
But alas they don't have a dealer network to reach these towns and city.

Lack of an Auto box without creature comforts in a metro may not cut in.
Or they may be going the Jeep way and satisfied with 1500 odd sales per month and 1000 exports.

Looking at the cost cutting measures I'm pretty sure it will be priced around Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and since it has only two main trims surprisingly, the Pure-tech 110 turbo could be priced around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).

Since there will be a lot of dealership level customizations and feature pack additions this would top at around Rs 10 lakh OTR ,Bengaluru.

Sad to see the blue and white dual tone option missing from Indian model, the South American models get it. The most disappointing aspect is no rear wipers on 110PS car, lack of a automatic transmission(hope they add this soon) and lack of 6 airbag on top variants, which some of its rivals offer.

EDIT: Found out they will have ONLY 20 showrooms at the time of launch and 30 by the end of the year. This is too low for a sub 10 lakh mass market car. Even Mercedes Benz have around 68 showrooms.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Do we know what customization are we referring to. Just dual tone color exterior and interior partial dash color slab. Hyundai has done that for i10 in the past with red interior touches for some exterior shades/variants. That will not be a USB.

Selecting accessories to your taste to a bare bones model is standard across all brands.

They are saying its a B segment hatch. They took 4 years to design, build a cost effective model for South American and Indian markets. A low cost product will never work in India. India as a market is Value conscious ( People will pay the right price for the right product). Obviously the price has to be relative to the competition as well.

For pricing perspective Wagon R starts at 5.5 ex showroom Mumbai. This is what Citroen will target at one end for the 1.2 NA. Though considering how much barebones (Live) the the base model is, it can try to under-cut this.

Live to Feel premium is justified at 1 lakh, but Citroen will try to cash in by asking 1.1 more.

My price prediction for ex-Mumbai if the variant and features mentioned are true.
- 1.2 NA Live = 5.5
- 1.2 NA Feel = 6.6
- 1.2 NA Dual tone = 6.8
- 1.2 110 Live = not likely
- 1.2 110 Feel = 7.5
- 1.2 110 Dual Tone = 7.7

Vibe, elegance, energy would be a combination of accessories from = 50 to 70k however individual accessories would be priced a little higher to push customers towards optioned packages.
