The future Citroën C3, as it should be called in these so-called emerging markets, will also be marketed in a 100% electric version with engines smaller than those known today, namely a power of 50 to 80 hp with two choices of batteries, 30 and 40 kWh. This engine could be reserved in India, the future C3 would offer, in Europe, the same electric powertrain as the Peugeot e208 with which it will share platform and factory.

Citroen C3 Sporty sub-4m SUV to get floating touchscreen headunit

A new spy image of the Citroen C3 Sporty sub-4m SUV shows that the car will get a floating touchscreen infotainment system.



The C3 Sporty is part of Citroen's C-Cubed program. It will be built in India, but its engines and transmissions are likely to be imported. The SUV could feature a quirky exterior with headlamps positioned on the front bumper and slim LED daytime running lights on top.

The C3 Sporty could be based on the company's modular CMP platform. Media reports suggest that the car could be offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Puretech petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

From the pictures, it is difficult to tell whether this new product from Citroën competes in the 4m compact SUV class (Sonet, Venue, Vitara Brezza etc.) or in the micro-SUV class (Ignis, Freestyle, KUV100).

Whatever, the ground clearance of the test mule appears grossly inadequate. I hope the engineers at Citroën raise the GC for India. It is a must!

French suspension engineers are simply the best in business when it comes to ride quality, and I hope Citroën continue to offer stellar, Gallic ride quality on all their cars for India.

1. I believe the car which is in the pic is a hatch (CC21) and it will be priced as per that segment - so more like Tiago will be its competitor. But there is a C-SUV (CC24) variant on the same platform.

2. Looks like fully laden, but the approach and departure angles looks enough to handle the Indian roads so bumpers are safe- need to check the wheel base to make sure it doesn't bottom out in the middle.

3. It is designed by Indian engineers (TCS, as we know), but can benefit from their French counterparts.

The car in the picture is likely CC21. CC24 is under development which will be a C-SUV , and its bit too early to spot a test mule for that .

Indian engineers designing the car is something I can understand. But TCS?!?

Why would a car manufacturer like Citroën want to outsource design (which is a core competency) to TCS or any other company, for that matter?

Not to worry, all were hired specially from Mahindra/Visteon and other OEMs. And it's closely monitored by french expats with 20 years of experience.

From what I have seen, it is best of both worlds coming together to make a great product. It is unprecedented for a service company to deliver a greenfield project(from scratch except styling) in automotive industry. It will be a game changer.

Saurabh Vatsa, Senior Director, Marketing Operations and Corporate Communications, Citroen India told, “We are working on diesel and gasoline engines, both. Diesel will come in the C5, and the C-Cubed programme is primarily gasoline (petrol) at this point in time.”

Off topic: TCS has an engineering and industrial services division with the likes of Boeing in the client list. That does not mean Boeing's aircraft design is outsourced to TCS. It is mostly AutoCAD design services for small parts like food trays, seat child parts, etc and some software modules.

Because, in my opinion, the vehicle size is restricted (to keep material cost and weight less)due to the theme micro and to sell they need to make it look like a sporty and still keeping the design lineage of Citroen, so not so many options. They all are going to look similar except for the fine art in detailing the grille, bumpers, lights and creases.

Not in this case. This project is unique to TCS and even I can vouch in entire automotive industry. They are responsible Design (except styling), product
development, sourcing, project management, even for setting up manufacturing lines (along with other partners).

Of Indian origin, the new Citroën C3 is spotted for the first time in Brazil. New hatch will emerge from the CC21 Project and will have the size of the Renault Sandero

The brand's new hatch will have the luminous signature in the form of two "Y" light lines. Depending on the version, the new division of the luminous signature will be in Full LED and integrates with the chevrons of the grid.

The main headlamp of the CC21 hatch is housed between the "Y" led lights. The main grid will be similar to that of the C5 Aicross and at the bottom the air intake will be in hive format.

The new C3 2022 will receive the 1.6 16V Flex engine with the same updates as the new Peugeot 208 2021. Fueled with gasoline the power is 115 hp at 5,750 rpm and torque from 15.4 kgfm to 4,000 rpm. With ethanol the power is 118 hp at 5,750 rpm and the torque is 15.47 kgfm at 4,750 rpm. Unlike the 208, the CC21 will have five-speed manual gearshift options and the six-speed automatic

Called smart car, Citroën's new offensive for the Brazilian market will have representative on three fronts. The first to arrive is the hatch that is called cc21 for now. Following will come an unprecedented sedan and an SUV to replace the Aircross.

At the rear, the nameplate will be on the bumper that will be very high. The trunk cover is short and will bypass the lanterns that invade the piece, but without continuity.
