Though Citroen will start its innings in India with the C5 Aircross, but that is considered as a brand building exercise to build up momentum to its future products for India.

Close to the heels of launching the AirCross, Citroen will move to the mass market CUV (< 4m) taking on the leader Maruti Suzuki's Vitara Brezza, with a target launch date in 2021.

This new sub-4m SUV will be a shortened version of the C3 but will be built on a different platform tailored for India and exported to LA Markets too.




With a target price of ~₹ 7 lakhs Citroen has a localization of ~ 90-95% planned.

Engine options include diesel:

The Citroen compact SUV will be available with three engine options. There will be a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol in naturally aspirated and turbocharged states, producing approximately 83hp and 110hp, respectively. There will also be a 1.5 diesel – the same DV5 unit that was co-developed by PSA and Ford and used by the latter in its small car line up. The Citroen compact SUV will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which again, will be locally manufactured to lower costs. An automatic is expected at some point.

Citroen developing Creta rival for India

The model will be Citroen’s third SUV for India, following the C5 Aircross and a compact SUV(2021).

Come 2022, the brand will be ready with its third model for our market. The third model will be a midsize SUV that’s in development as a rival to the Hyundai Creta, the current leader of the segment.

This new SUV will be loosely based on the international C4 Cactus, but like other Citroen products for India, it will be highly localised and built for our market. Expect styling to be quirky like other Citroen's.

New Citroen C3 Sporty - a small SUV for India and other emerging markets.

Citroen C3 Sporty will be a sub 4m C/SUV, cheap and appear in the market in 2022.




It will probably be produced in India and exported to neighboring countries.

The car is clearly based on the style of the latest models, combining the features of Citroen C3 and C4. It is similar in size to the usual C3, but is clearly raised to meet customer requirements for SUV bodies. The smallest gasoline units will come under the bonnet, it will be a cheap car, affordable for Asian markets. This means competing in the segment where 60-80 hp drives dominate.

Citroen C3 Sporty would be manufactured in a factory in India. Engines and gearboxes will probably be imported, the remaining components will probably go to production on site and at the suppliers.

The brand could also introduce such a version in Europein an EV form , especially in combination with a comfortable suspension - it would definitely increase the attractiveness of the range.

C3 Sporty does look promising indeed.

Considering its a sub 4m SUV should rival the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue etc.

Hope the French have some Hatchbacks lined up too

But too much of flip-flop in their decisions. Seems like they are not clear still on India. They were initiating sourcing for localization of components but put them on hold and whom they partnered had let go people late last year since it was losing steam.

Citroen to launch 4 new models from 2021 to 2023

Responding to an Instagram post, Citroen has confirmed that it plans to launch four new products in India by 2023 under the C-Cubed program.



Citroen will enter the Indian market with the C5 Aircross in Q1 2021. The car will be imported as a completely knocked down (CKD) kit and will be assembled at the PSA Group's Tiruvallur factory.

Post the launch of the C5 Aircross, the carmaker plans to introduce 1 new model every year between 2021 and 2023. The cars will be made and launched in India before being sold outside the country. One of the new models is rumoured to be a sub-4m SUV called the C3 Sporty. It could be based on the modular CMP platform and could be offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Puretech petrol engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

C3 looks to be a nice option. Will be upgrading my Hyundai Eon, mostly used by my wife, next year and will surely be keeping a close eye on how the product and company plans turn out.

Spotted in India at the end of August, the new generation of the Citroën C3 will begin running in tests in Brazil in the coming months. Built from a simplified version of the CMP architecture, it will be produced in Porto Real (RJ) and will put an end to the European origins of the hatch that debuted in Brazil in 2003. The premiere is scheduled for mid-2021.

In this new stage in the Brazilian market, the Citroën C3 2022 that will be born of the CC21 Project will have the same face as the Indian model, that is, as well as the French Renault, the brand will have models for emerging countries in Brazil.

First made-in-India Citroen SUV begins road-tests:

- C21 compact SUV will be Citroen's first made-in-India model
- To be powered by 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine
- Launch by 2021 festive season

The company has already begun testing this engine in India on a Berlingo MPV that is sold with the same engine overseas. This engine is being benchmarked to rival Maruti Suzuki’s engines for refinement and fuel efficiency.

Citroen India to enter mass market EV space by 2022, to bring in flexi-fuel cars by 2021.

Groupe PSA is working on a mass market small electric SUV codenamed eCC21, which is likely to be priced around Rs 8 lakh and hit the Indian roads in 2022.

But before the EV, a top of the line premium mid-size SUV, the C5 Aircross, will be launched in 2021, followed by a flexi-fuel small SUV that is compatible to run on a 1.2-litre petrol engine with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel, in the second half of 2021. This small SUV may give the company a first-mover advantage in the flexi-fuel space in India,

The CC21 small SUV project is part of a smart car platform, internally called the C-Cube, which is being developed specifically for emerging markets. India is expected to be a key exports hub for such vehicles for the French car maker.

The CC21 SUV will be followed by a compact SUV, CC24, to challenge the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Venue, in 2022 and a compact sedan the following year.
