I really don't know what to say about these guys.
Penny wise and pound foolish. Getting this mat on and off for summer, or the movement because of air flow is certainly going to cause scratches on the surface that makes contact.

A clear coat or waxing will probably cost much more than the few millilitres of petrol that has been saved on this Jugaad Jaguar

After reading all these posts, I feel sad for that XUV5OO and Corolla, I mean I can't stand even small amount of mud near mud guard of my car and these people are smearing whole car with cow dung!!! Dirt is one thing but that smell!!

And look at the hypocrisy by the owner of XUV as well as the media, presenting him as a senior doctor, just to grab more TRP.

The Corolla owner is telling that she did that dung coating to cool the car and to prevent poisonous and polluting gases from entering the atmosphere!!!
Rather, she could have stopped using her Corolla and started using an electric vehicle.

I am sorry, but this is beyond ridiculous. A medical doctor did this? Did he get his degree from the same medical school that Munnabhai got his MBBS degree from?

Sorry for offtopic, Am I the only one who wait for such posts to laugh like hell.

Coming back to discussion, the guy is crazy for sure as he surpassed the level of stupidity.

Some basic ways to keep your car cool which I remember are,

- Keeping the windows slightly opened
- cotton based seat covers
- using sunshades/sunblinds
- fan the door rapidly to move the hot air out
- open sunroof if present
- use global windows open feature from remote
- keep radiator and condenser clean

Yeah, I wouldn’t be following his car for sure! The dude has actually taken this cow dung thing quite seriously. He has even coated the bumpers. Wonder what he was trying to keep cool there. Any guesses what ‘air’ he must be using to keep his tyres cool?

This is madness in the name of what they think as science. XUV 500 becomes XUV P00.

Hope no company will see a business angle here and comes up with a "crap wrap" for cars.

Can't stop myself. Really Sorry.. Risking being infracted

He should have used some other dung (guessed it?) available in colors. Would have got life time achievement award.

On a serious note, the cartoq's article explains on some maintainence

Quote:
Cow dung and straw are the most common materials used in the mud houses of the villages in India. The straw and the cow dung captures the moisture, which in turn keeps the surface cooler by a few degrees. However, the cars are made out of metal and since metal heat up quite quickly, all the moisture from the layer of cow dung on the vehicle will evaporate within an hour on a hot day. Either the layer has to be watered every hour to keep it effective or it will be useless. However, adding water to the layer often may cause the vehicle to rust and bring down its overall life by a few years.

What the cartoq article forgot to mention is that while wet cowdung might cool your vehicle, it stinks. Dry cowdung doesn't smell much of anything at all.

Your choice, a smelly, cool rustbucket or a functional AC.

God help those motorists who get stuck in traffic with a car coated with layers of cow dung in the vicinity. In addition to garbage trucks and waste strewn all around, they have to now endure the stench emanating from a freshly coated car.
Also, they have to keep distance otherwise, if the car is driven a bit fast, chances are cow dung might fly off the roof and land on helmets and pedestrians' faces.
Too much agony

This is taking hybrid to an altogether new level!

If only he had arranged for sprinklers to keep the dung wet and added a mechanism to generate CNG from inside the engine bay, he might as well run the car on alternate fuel.

At the risk of being infracted, how about a गोबर गॅस plant in the boot to fuel the car with fresh methane?

People will keep doing what they want. Me says ignore and continue with your life. Mods may lock down this thread.
