re: Third-gen Hyundai i20 spotted testing in Chennai. Edit: Launched at 6.79 lakhs

The car looks bigger in dimensions. Can anyone confirm if the rear leg space is gonna increase?

It looks similar in size when compared with Altroz.

Received via whatsapp. Hyundai coming to a full circle of bringing ugly cars to the market.

May I ask what you didn’t like about the render? IMO, if this is how the production spec will look like, I’d say it’s a darn good effort by Hyundai after the disappointment the Aura was and the Creta will be.

This looks very much like a production spec render, if I am not wrong. As for the design, it was expected after seeing recent Hyundais, especially the i30. I won't term it ugly, infact it is better looking than i10 Nios, but not a big fan of the design either. Hoping for a pleasant surprise with "N-line" spec design changes.

re: Third-gen Hyundai i20 spotted testing in Chennai. Edit: Launched at 6.79 lakhs

Hyundai has released images of the new generation Hyundai i20 - compact hatch that will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show, to the European market, where it will face the New Polo and Peugeot 208, among others.

Quote:
Preview images show that the new i20 will look more sporty and dynamic. The cascading grid at the front that runs horizontally to the sides results in the characteristic wide and low body.
Quote:
The rear is complemented with a horizontal taillight design, which is perfectly connected to the rear glass.
The new i20 will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020.

Those tail lamps tho

God help Hyundai's designers, their recent design philosophy is just not cohesive enough.

It's kinda sad they did this to the i20, the best looking Hyundai that was in the outgoing generation.

Have said this on numerous other threads including the one on the new Creta, but worth saying it again. Yet another bad design by the Hyundai team. I am flummoxed as to why they don't get the concept of a timeless design. Yes, pushing quirky designs into the market may gain them a bit of temporary limelight, but these designs will age really badly. Till a few years back, Hyundai was doing some clean and proportionate designs, while they are doing the exact opposite with their new design portfolio. The existing i20 was one of the better looking hatchbacks and now they have gone and dialed up the quirk quotient to an 11. Even the alloys look ugly!

Hope it looks better in the flesh than it does in these pics.

IMO, this is not such a bad design when compared to the upcoming Creta and Verna - except the ugly tail lamps.

Maybe I am one of the few among us who feel that the design is not that bad. To me, it looks sharp and sleek, Except for the protruding rear camera which could have been integrated better.

It almost looks like Hyundai had an exodus of designers from their team to take up positions at Kia. Look at the brilliant stuff they are coming up with globally.

+1.
Personally, I like this one more than the current gen. It looks more "complete". I always felt the current one looked a bit "abrupt" in certain angles. This looks contemporary & very sporty. I liked it.
The shape looks more proportionate & side profile looks very European. I totally hate the new cascaded grille language that Hyundai is going with. Last gen Verna & Creta were the best sample of it, everything else I hate & same is for this i20. But apart from the grille, it looks smart!

re: Third-gen Hyundai i20 spotted testing in Chennai. Edit: Launched at 6.79 lakhs

IMHO the design looks nice. Not polarising like the new Creta and Verna (Chinese version) facelift. But the overall 2 box (hood + body) look of current generation i20 is gone now. Looks a bit MPV-ish like Jazz and all.

Earlier I used to like all Hyundai designs. The designs had a European look to it. A bit disappointed with their current design direction.

The code name for this vehicle is Bi3. Initially, this vehicle was going to be produced in Kia plant but now has been shifted to Hyundai Chennai plant. This project has been postponed due to the slowdown in the auto market.
