Hey People,
I was inquesitive to know why doesnt hyundai release the Tibron in india, I agree they will not sell volumes, but its a nice sports car by them and relatively not so expensive, i drove one of these a few years back in Canada and they are fun...
Thanks...

are you talking aobut the tiburon.. ive never heard of the tibron.

It wont sell in enough numbers for Hyundai to justify it. Altho there are current Hyundais that dont sell in high numbers (Terracan, Tucson, Sonata, Elantra), the major differences with the Tiburon- with it being a sports car, will be its mileage and 2 seater seating. People will buy a Lamborgini for the image, perhaps not a Hyundai sports car

It's actually a 2+2 with 2 doors hence difficulty in accessing the rear seats. But if they bring it in with the V6 & manual transmission they could sell some decent numbers provided the price is not more than 18L (on-road) This way they can tap the enthusiast crowd away from the RS but the numbers are still going to be miniscule.

Actually I would buy one as my daily driver.

Unless the tiburon is able to have two more doors and give a mileage of around 15kmpl for the sticky fuel ,sales figures would be something you could count using your fingers, something which would not help hyundai to even recover the launch cost of the car[just joking].

Not another Hyundai!! please:

Hyundai is finding it hard to sell cars above the 7L range...

All their luxury cars have flopped till date (elantra, Sonata, Sonata emberra petrol [mentioning petrol specifically cause i belive the CRDi has potential against the pverpriced laura] Terracan, Tucson) etc...

I dont think Hyundai has the brand value to make a sportscar a hit... However, i wont complain if they try... ;) May be.... They can give inpsiration to some other companies to bring their cars in too...

Hyundai tiburon is also know as hyundai coupe... The car was the most popular car hyundai had at their 'All India road show'... However, when we asked, they said it could cost near 26L if launched... Too big a price, i thought...

(posting a pic cause somebody mentioned he hasnt seen it yet... Felt it looked better in B&W :D)

its ugly and very ordinary to drive. thank God its not in India.

Well Tiburon is a poor mans sports car... or atleast the image.
The car doesnt look that bad!!! Compared to other hyundai models.
I have a 2.0L and its give me decent mileage and appreciable power.
Pricing it around 20L in india should be the last thing they shud do.
But then someone over here comparing Tiburon and Lambo???
U shud be outta ur mind. 20L is still lower than 1 crore.. hehe!!!

I agree..... it doesn't really look that bad when compared to say a lada & or some other cheap east-european car(Trabant!!!!!). it looks like an alien mated with a 1980's toyota mr2 and cra**ed this out.....

Sir theMag....... i expect this to materialze into a fruitful conversation....

and all the other dosts from bangalore...... he's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak with twin turbo's under the seats this time aroundrl:

edit: as u said it general...... peace

its not even that great of a car....

If Hyundai launches the Tiburon it will have a monopoly over an untapped market segment in India which will be growing. The tiburon will also do wonders for its image. The only thing that Hyundai has to keep in mind is pricing it right. A price in the range of 13-14 lakhs should just do the trick. Also while it might not be the best car in the world it will be the first sports coupe in India and will definately find buyers not just in enthusiasts but also people who have extra money and want something thats cool and will get them attention.

It is not a bad car, it is the only car that used to stands out from the usual dull lineup from Hyundai in the US market. In fact, JFK Jr. used to own one. It was the last car he drove on the way to the airport, before he tragically died in the air crash. Later, it was one of the cars I considered as a second car in 2000, but didn't go ahead because it was a coupe.

I guess Hyundai did initially have plans to import the previous generation and one magazine (bsmotoring or overdrive?) had driven it in India. The limited numbers and price would have caused them to withdraw their plans.

but why in the heavens name would any of us want a hyundai Tiburon?

There are far better cars out in the market.
