re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Maruti knows what works especially in the celerio segment of cars, if nothing else many many uber/Ola drivers would be due for an upgrade.

Thats actually a standard part from Maruti's part bin. The same unit has been doing duty on Estilo/WagonR/current Celerio/Export spec Alto since a decade now more or less. Looks exactly this way on all of them. Not the best visual integration. But is an indicator of Maruti's optimized reuse and fast assembly line modularity for cars. This way - the only difference on the assembly line and SOP is a hole in the hatch and connection of motor & water pipe. Rest of the parts and processes remain same even for a trim without rear wiper. For cars with glass-integrated wiper - you have to use separate part inventory of inside cover, glass part with hole from supplier etc.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

The next gen Celerio looks like a grown-up Alto for people wishing to own a Baleno, but for various reasons are unable to. Like many have noted, this will be as much a looker as the current Alto/Spresso. The older "Suzuki Altos", namely Maruti 800, Zen 1st Gen, Alto and Alto-K10 1st Gen remain the best looking bean-shaped kei cars till date. The cheaper Maruti Suzuki cars are progressively getting uglier - my personal opinion only. It is almost like Maruti Suzuki wants the owner to feel, "This is a cheaper temporary car. I must surely soon upgrade to a Swift, Baleno, or higher. Shouldn't be seen in this forever!".

Taillights look like those of the new Santro and the headlights, old Grand i10

Also seems a little smaller than the ongoing hatch IMO.

I went down to my parking lot, stared at my Celerio and admired how better it looked. Again while returning I turned around to take a second look. This new car is in my opinion. Of course people like smooth curves. But this is just too much of rounded edges for my liking.

OT but man what a clean black 1st gen! Great ride height, proper 4 lug wheels and tyres. Looks like it's on some kind of a showroom and KL plates, is it for sale?

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Upcoming Celerio to get new 1.2-litre petrol engine apart from 1-litre option, launch is around September this year.
Quote:
Sources at the company said the launches are being delayed due to the pandemic and when things get to normalcy, more products and variants are expected to be launched. For instance, MSIL that was supposed to launch the all-new Celerio hatchback in April this year, would now be launching around September, they said.

The upcoming Celerio will be fitted with a BS-VI compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine and there will also be an option of a new refined 1.2-litre petrol engine, for the first time in this product, the sources said.

Next-gen Maruti Celerio unofficial bookings open

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has played spoilsport with the launch plans of a lot of upcoming cars. The next-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio is one of the cars, whose launch has been pushed to September 2021.

2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh-201312516_987225982025926_6013440976978527156_n.jpg

With the official launch of the car still a few months away, some dealerships have reportedly started accepting bookings for the hatchback. The refundable deposit is said to vary from dealer to dealer and ranges from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 11,000.

The new Celerio is expected to be based on the fifth-generation Heartect platform. It appears to be slightly larger than the outgoing model and will feature a new look exterior and interior.

Reports suggest that the new Celerio is likely to be offered with a 1.0-litre petrol engine, while a more refined 1.2-litre unit will be available as an option.

As though there is so much hype and anticipation towards the new celerio!

It was a boring car (no offense to owners, I own one too) and the new sketches don't seem to say otherwise about the new model.

I can see people pre-booking kushaqs. Celerio? It's a stretch IMO.

Current generation Celerio is slightly better, this one looks like Alto XL/ Baleno XS.

Don’t understand how they keep coming with boring cars and still be a leader. Probably in 10 years they would be gone.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Celerio is/was Suzuki's Global Alto(at least spiritually). Only in India, does the Global Alto and Kei Alto exist together. There is no need to think or assume otherwise. People who do not like Wagon-R form factor will go for Celerio as the underlying package is similar. Boring or inoffensive design is probably one of the design briefs given to the Stylist.
