re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

I like this design, though many might find it boring.

It kind of gets swift styling and looks cuter than my current celerio. Even the color options are much sportier than outgoing celerio.

What's left to be seen is whether the new celerio can be as spacious as the last Gen, now that the height and dimensions seem to be reduced comparatively.

One of those rare (and only) times that I wish to quote myself.

Thankyou Maruti Suzuki for giving this black alloys and cool colors and now this doesn't look as boring as the previous patent image leaks!

The new Celerio looks dated. The Rear end has uncanny resemblance to Hyundai Grand i10 with side profile resembling Maruti S Presso.
Overall new Celerio looks better IMO to current Celerio.

Maruti Suzuki is in dire need of a top notch car designer. Please don't push this contraption which seems to have come out of Swift + Baleno + Spresso mating session At this point it's just sad that the company with 50% market share in India, can't give one decent looking car. MS, please hire someone who has taste for good designs. We all know you can't develop safer cars or enthusiastic cars, the least you can do is make your cars look visually appealing ! While you're at it, do consider changing that decades old interior material

Next-gen Celerio's design is good.

I feel that its head lights have resemblance to Renault Pulse whereas side-profile looks almost like S-Presso's.

I do kinda like this design. Even though it looks like a Shrink Dried version of the Swift, it looks good for what is essentially a city car. Will stand out among the rest of the cars present in the segment. The black alloys and the nice colours will make it stand out among other commuter cars.

Very neutral and widely acceptable design. The car appears proportionate. Looks are subjective and hence Maruti has always aimed at non polarizing designs. I think it looks clean without any funny cuts and creases. I think this is a good step up in terms of both design and size from the current Celerio.

Kinda looks like the love child of SPresso and Swift. Happy to see Suzuki taking design cues from their own ‘best’ selling lineages!

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Had a concussion for a second after seeing the grille! But, then overall, it looks pretty decent actually. Proportions of a tall-boy and a mix of parts from the Suzuki & Hyundai Bin (Swift-Like Headlamps, old-gen Santro proportions & current-gen Santro tail-lamps).
But, if any BHPian decides to get this, it's my humble request for all of you to get that chrome strip blackened immediately

From the front It feels like a mixture of the old Hyundai Santro/Kia Picanto from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Rear looks better through.

Whatever it is one thing is for sure, it will still have the same Power Windows console of the 1st GEN SWIFT from 2005

They seem be going for a tall boy design. From the side profile, The base structure of the car seems to be same as that of the Espresso.

I think this will have loads of space inside for small car.

The ugly looking front might either be because of pedestrian regulations or because its derived from the Espresso.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Where do all the Maruti cars fit in the line-up? Why should someone pick celerio over a wagon-r or vice versa. And where does the ignis fall in all of this?

There is no linkage between Espresso and Celerio. They are built on separate platforms altogether. The Celerio is built on a wider Wagon-R/Ignis base platform. The S-Presso is based on kei platform. Whoever does not like the Wagon-R form factor will go for the Celerio.

S presso is built on Heartech platform not on kei platform. So technically new Celerio shares same platform as S presso, Wagon R.

New Celerio looks good. Front headlights are similar to Alto 800 and the grille seems to be inspired from Swift facelift. Rear tail lights looks like an inspiration drawn from Hyundai Grand i10. What are the possible powertrains of the new Celerio ? Will it use the K-10B engine or the K12M engine.
