This images are posted by father of Jeep interior designer and claimed this is yet to be revealed version and looking at camouflage 7 seaters it’s matching with the rear box shape

Sorry, but THAT IS a Grand Wagoneer and if you don't believe me, it's also written on the vehicle itself! Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are the full size SUVs from Jeep brand which were recently launched in the US market.

Looks like there is some misunderstanding! The Commander which is still under camouflage is based on the Compass; like the 2021 Safari, Alcazar and Hector Plus are based on the Harrier, Creta and Hector respectively.

Even the interiors for the Commander will be similar to the Compass. The pictures posted are of the Grand Wagoneer, which is much larger in size, can be verified by the side profile, doors and front-end where the Commander 7 seater gets a Compass-like front fascia, whereas the Grand Wagoneer has a different much more squared-off fascia

May be. But unless and until FCA gets its portfolio and pricing right they are bound to fail. With the 7 seater launch, it is only 2 cars from their stable. A decade ago Fiat just had Punto and Linea and no replacement came. Same applies to Jeep as well.

Jeep Compass-based 7-seat SUV to be called Meridian

We know that Jeep's Compass-based 7-seater SUV is called the Commander in the international market. However, it may not use this name when it arrives in India.



According to a media report, the SUV is likely to be called the Meridian in the Indian market. It will be positioned above the Compass and will compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.

Reports suggest that the Meridian will be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with a 48 V mild-hybrid system. The engine is likely to be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

It is also said that Meridian customers would be able to choose between 6-seat and 7-seat configurations, with the former getting separate captain seats for the 2nd-row. The SUV is expected to come loaded with premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging and a larger touchscreen infotainment system.

This seems like the same AT transmission available in current Diesel Compass. This gives us a clue about the pricing bucket, don't be surprised if Toyota pricing suddenly feels value for money.

C'mon!!! The Commander was such a cool name. Does Mahindra still hold a trademark over the name? Would look cool on the 4 door Thar than the Marshal. Commander or Armada. Both would be cool.

But Meridian feels so...unSUVish. Reminds me of geography and hotels.

Well. Except for the Ertiga, most of the new 7 seaters make the Innova feel VFM. Same could apply to the Meridian, since the Compass itself has been priced out by all standards.

It is still not clear if the 7 seater has grown in all dimensions or if it is just a stretched compass to accommodate 2 additional seats. If later holds true, price differential shouldn't be more than 2-4 lakhs over the regular compass.
