re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

JEEP ' COMMANDER' it is - name decoded from the music notes in the teaser!

Quote:
And it was precisely using the good old Morse Code that confirmed that the unprecedented seven-seater SUV — manufactured in Brazil — is called Jeep Commander.
Quote:
slowed down the music, put it backwards (in "Ilariê" it worked) and analyzed the sound waves. In the end, the name Commander was on the soundtrack itself, dictated in the classic language of telegraphists

But from past experience I expect little to nothing from them on pricing it well. At the very least, I hope they can get their engine tranny mating in order this time around, unlike the Compass.
Remember how before the launch of the Compass, every single forum discussion had it that it will start around 25 lakhs? And Jeep kept their word of launching an INR 15 lakh SUV here. I still believe that the Commander/Patriot will undercut the Fortuner by a sizeable margin. The only concern is that the guy who priced the C5Aircross insanely is now heading Jeep too!!

The alloys on this Jeep do look fab. Interesting space to watch I'd say.

Its time there are more options in this range.

Jeep Grand Commander face-lift in China - Could be the COMMANDER for other markets too?

re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Jeep GRAND COMMANDER will be the name of the 7 seater, just as the SUV in China.

India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian-flagrajeepgrandcommander20225.jpg

- Will have four flex versions: Sport, Longitude, Limited and S and with diesel engine will be three: Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk.

Quote:
the Grand Commander will come equipped from the entry version with six airbags, painted, LED-signature Full LED headlights, Jeep Traction Control+ LED fog lights, Auto Hold, dual zone air conditioning, electronic parking brake, Keyless Enter 'N Go system and rain and twilight sensors.
Engines:

Quote:
The engine of the Grand Commander flex is the 1.3 Turbo Flex which will be called the T270. The propellant has power of 180 hp with gasoline and 185 hp with ethanol. Torque is 27.5 kgfm. The engine works in conjunction with the six-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission received more sporty calibration, with fast gear shifts and at higher revs, being activated by the Sport key. Like the Compass, the 4×2 versions will also have Jeep Traction Control technology that transfers torque to front wheel in contact with the ground.

The 2.0 Turbo diesel engine will have revised power and the SUV should have 203 hp, the torque will also be revised and just like the Compass 2022, it will also have the Arla tank for gas treatment

re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Going by the pricing of the current Compass, the new 7 seater would fall way too close to the body on frame SUVs, I doubt there would be many takers for this in that case, unless Jeep manages to do some magic with the interiors and power.

This could be a great alternative for the upcoming Kodiaq. There is no other direct competition that I see in the 7 seater monocoque SUVs.

This looks heavily inspired by the Grand Cherokee - which is not at all a bad thing. Going by the interiors of the facelifted Compass, the ones on the Commander should also be a premium affair.

re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Slightly OT but every time I hear the name 'Jeep Commander' and ever since this story began breaking, it always took me back to my Granddad's Mahindra Commander, I think it was later called the Marshal.

Looking at the Roxor, Thar lawsuits and designs; I guess Jeep and Mahindra really do have 'baggage'.

Spied testing in Brazil. Gives an idea about the headlights and the side profile.

re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Jeep releases its next teaser of the SUV for Brazil: Reveals COMMANDER as its name.

- Seven-seater SUV debuting in the second half with at least two versions, Limited and Overland

- Reveal will be in 2nd half of 2021

- from the Compass, the wheelbase will be lengthened by approximately 15 cm from the rear doors, and the rear swing will also be larger so that over some space in the trunk when the third row is armed.

- Even the interior will be shared with Compass, the Commander will have only the gold chrome band on the panel and the center console with soft touch material on the sides to differentiate.

-The body, however, will have enough changes to ensure some independence to the Commander. At the front, the unique full-led headlights, with chrome appendages resuming to the hood, stand out as much much as the led daytime running lights interconnected by a chrome bar on the bumper. The grid, in turn, bets on small rectangles with floating effect and chrome appliques

-The rear will also be quite different from the Compass. The debut and well-resonating lanterns to the small rear window are inspired by the new Jeep Grand Cherokee L, but the trunk cover will be much straighter and the rear will be quite square.

Quote:
The largest national Jeep will be available with both the new 1.3 GSE Turbo engine of 185/180 hp and 27.5 kgfm of torque, with six-speed automatic transmission, and with the 2.0 Multijet turbodiesel but differently tuner to higher power
The diesel engine, in addition to receiving gas treatment system with Arla 32 (urea), would have gained power: it would jump from 170 to more than 200 hp and torque from 37.5 to more than 40 kgfm. . Even with more power, this engine would follow allied to the automatic nine-speed transmission and 4×4 traction.

For all its good looks and heritage, there is something amiss about this profile. As a matter of fact, that seems to the case with all 5-seater SUVs which are "stretched" into 7-seaters - more often than not, the profile is not as palatable as a 7-seater SUV developed from the ground up.

May be poor rendering but looks so Station Wagon. Will appeal to lot of customers who were eyeing and buying Allspace/Kodiaq and X1 to some extent. That badge undoubtedly carries lot of value in India.
