NEXA is doing lots of PR activity, when I went to their twitter handle I realized they had an open Q&A session yesterday on XL6.

I have posted about 16 inchers, perhaps they will notice this feedback or

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch a premium MPV. Update: XL6 launched @ Rs. 9.80 lakhs

Hello, Do we have a compiled list of differences between Ertiga Zxi Auto and Zeta XL6 AT. Want to know what XL6 Zeta AT is offering over Zxi AT and the on-road price difference between the 2. Listing some differences that I could gather from this thread. Please add if any notable point is missed.

1. Captain seats in XL6 in place of bench in Zxi
2. All black interiors in XL6 vs beige in Zxi
3. LED Head and tail lights in place of projector in Zxi and partial LED at tail
4. Cruise control in XL6 which is absent in Zxi
5. Body cladding in XL6
6. Leather seats in XL6 vs fabric in Zxi AT
7. ESP and Hill Hold features in XL6. Are they present in Zxi AT?

A question here,

Is this Real leather or Resin?

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch a premium MPV. Update: XL6 launched @ Rs. 9.80 lakhs

Why did Maruti Force Ertiga to look like a cross-over?
They did not have to, the side claddings could have been provided as accessory rather than standard fitment.

Cruise control was not a necessity, could have been avoided.
They could have thought about a sunroof instead.

What Nexa Ertiga should have been IMO.

1) Electric Sunroof
2) Middle seats with Table
3) Larger touchscreen
4) Diamond cut 16" alloys.
5) Electric sliding doors. ( This is a must since the doors are really long )
6) Mood lighting

It would not have mattered if the difference in price would have been higher, it would been a really premium offering.

I am hoping it was supposed to mean rexine.
Looking at the zippers on those seats, it appears to be an after thought and pretty much like an after market fitment.
I would think, at that price point, they are some rexine/ art leather types.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch a premium MPV. Update: XL6 launched @ Rs. 9.80 lakhs

Does Anyone have tech specs on the Gear ratios of the 4 speed AT for the XL6/Ertiga vs the Gear ratios of the 5 sp manual?

I want to compare them.

My next car is going to be an AT or AMT (no clutch )

99% of all my driving is on the highways. I do not drive above 100kmph during day and not above 80 kmph during nights. ( I also avoid night driving after 7 pm as far as possible ). What I want to say is that I am a very sedate driver, whose only priority is to get home safely.

However, I do not want a car with a gearing ratio that will make it struggle at 120 kmph, if I have to do that in an emergency.

I heard "not so good" things about the Maruti 4 sp AT on the youtube reviews. However , they did not give specifics. They say vague things like "the AT does not do justice to this engine" "AT makes the engine scream at higher speeds" etc.

If I can compare the gear ratios of the AT vs MT, it would give me a rough idea about the tradeoff.

The Ertiga AT has a somewhat similar ratio in the fourth gear as the MT in its fifth. It does 100kmph in 2400-2500RPM which gives it space to further stretch to another 40kmph easily. The fourth gear being so tall aids in decent economy in highway speeds.

The reason why people cry about this transmission is because of the lesser ratios on offer. This will lead to gear hunting and could lead to frequent shifting. I have driven the Ciaz AT with the same transmission and that shifts on its will and when you kick down it starts getting cranky. It is this which is undesirable since the transmission isnt too quick to shift either. Hence, it would have been better if a fifth or/and a sixth ratio was provided since it would have given a wider choice of ratios to reduce the need of frequent shifts. Having six gears to play around within a given band of gear ratios will have greater overlap between them and hence, during acceleration or roll on without kickdown, the transmission neednt hunt for the right gear to be in.

I would say It depends on your driving style. If you plan your overtakes in advance the car has enough grunt to take you past slower traffic without shifting down a gear at the speeds you have mentioned, and this I know after driving a friends Ciaz AT from Baroda to Bombay (3 adults with luggage). I agree that it isn't the most responsive if you floor the throttle, so gentle inputs are better.

I assume the same would apply to the XL6, and it would probably be a little slower considering it weighs about 100 kg more.

To add to above, you have the 4th gear as an overdrive, which can be disabled with a push of button for overtaking.

And then you have the 2nd and 1st gears (L) for hill climb and descent.

Car seems quite an unique offering, 6 seat combo is spot on and size makes it easy to use within the city!

One important question though, where does the additional weight of 55Kg goes?

Faux leather. Not real leather. "Leatherette" as they call it now.

--------

So got to see this in person without taking any effort to visit a Nexa outlet at all. Nexa has put-up a small tent inside office campus in Hinjawadi IT park.
Good to see that they are at least taking active efforts to sell a product rather than just waiting it out in the showroom as new car will always pull people to showrooms.

Maruti Suzuki to launch a premium MPV. Update: XL6 launched @ Rs. 9.80 lakhs-xl6cg.jpg

And no the car didn't impress as a premium offering. I went to check it out with an open mind and without any presumptions.
  • Face is a good attempt at design. Nice high & wide brow gives it a meaner stance on the road from front.
  • Interiors are just about par. Nothing spectacular to talk about over the Ertiga. Whether premium or not - the MPV has to be practical most importantly. The Ertiga does this well already. I don't see a big premium jump inside the cabin of the XL6 to make me shift from an Ertiga to an XL6.
  • In person - the wheels look even smaller than in pictures.
  • I'll repeat the arch claddings. They are awful. If MSIL was thinking this will reduce the visual bulk & make wheels appear larger - they have failed miserably. With the claddings the body's bulk is getting amplified and wheels are appearing even smaller than those on the Ertiga. Bummer.
  • Headlamps look a bit overdone to my taste. They are too blingy. I prefer the understated ones of the Ertiga honestly. Or the headlamps are actually not bad - the new grille design isn't complementing them properly. Looks like a Ford Freestyle borrowed design. Or perhaps there should be more smoked/black surfaces inside the headlamps instead of all that chrome.
Came out quite disappointed even when I had low expectations.
If I were to buy an XL6, it would be only if the following 2 were available with it -
  1. 1.5 DDiS
  2. 6 Airbags
Without these two - I would go for a diesel Ertiga top ender, save money & get far more a VFM product instead. The premium pricing asked isn't justified by the product IMHO. I'd suggest the same to prospective buyers.

The Ertiga is a good car already. Its not something too basic that warrants a "premium" variant, which the XL6 wants to be.

Oh and yes the name . XL6. There is so much lack of imagination around us?

Imagine -
Friend - Hey which car did you buy?
Me - XL6
Friend - What?
Me - XL6
...
Friend to his friends afterwards - Seems he bought some new pick-up truck.

Mostly on Captain seats and cosmetic additions like roof rails, headlamps.

White looks brilliant IMO, Zeta with touchscreen feels like the more VFM variant. Will We get Team-bhp review of this car?

This can easily do even better numbers with Diesel option.

No engine guard and auto IRVM even in a so called premium offering!!! May be an engine guard makes the product less premium
