MARUTI SUZUKI TO LAUNCH A PREMIUM MPV IN INDIA ON AUGUST 21.

Quote:

Maruti Suzuki will launch a new MPV in the Indian market on August 21. This MPV isn't an SUV-ish derivative of the Ertiga, as was being speculated, but is, in fact, a more premium offering altogether, which will be sold through the Nexa sales and service channel.

What? 'Premium' MPV that is not based on the Ertiga?

Where are the engines for that? And there weren't any test mules also. I don't think Maruti has any good diesel or petrol engine that can power an MPV more expensive than an Ertiga. Either the news is wrong or they may launch the Maruti Innova Crystalol:

Its the six-seat version of the Ertiga, but will get a Toyota-like nose and more premium interior. Will come in multiple variants just like other Nexa cars. Petrol only, 1.5 litre, first BS6 1.5 petrol for Maruti.

More on the 6 seater from Maruti Suzuki.

will be a sole 5-speed manual transmission

The new model will share some body panels with the Ertiga, but will get new front styling with a much taller chrome-laden grille merging with the bumper and Ciaz-like headlamps along with LED daytime running lamps. The upcoming model will get a raised ride-height along with additional body cladding running across its sides to give it a more 'rugged look'

Maruti Suzuki six-seater to get two captain chairs for the middle row and a two-passenger bench seat for the third. Additionally, it will most-likely feature an all-black cabin
Quote:

Under the hood, this new vehicle will see Maruti’s newest 1.5-litre petrol engine that also does duty on the Ciaz and the Ertiga. There are talks that the BS6-compliant version of this 1.5-litre engine will debut on this new crossover

Wish list over Ertiga:

1. Improve sound insulation and general flimsy feel of the vehicle.
2. UV cut glass all around.
3. Allay safety fears.
4. Retain bench option.

Front looks sharp. Why only manual when the 1.5L petrol engine is same as the one in Ertiga?

EDIT:

Quote:

As far as gearbox goes, there will be a sole 5-speed manual transmission; but a 4-speed torque-convertor automatic could join later.

Resembles the front end of the Toyota Kluger sold here in Australia. Somehow the front side of Toyota and Maruti vehicles look like from the same family. Tie-up effect?

ACI story clearly says its a representational image. Which means they must've tweaked a Toyota design to make it look like Suzuki. Going by the spy shots from Motor Octaine, I think they are correct, the actual car might get Toyota like nose.

So a Suzuki Baleno became a Toyota "Bell end" (sorry, could not resist) and so a Toyota Kluger might just become a Suzuki ... umm, err, something something?
The Kluger looks pretty good so why not just do what Toyota did and swap the badges and scratch out Toyota and write Suzuki?
Edit: just checked the prices; it will be too high if the above is done. So MS will strip it of features and then sell it at a "premium" through Nexa.

that's just a representational image. Dont think Maruti will get the Klugger, it will rather be something similar but Ertiga sized.

If you look closely, its more than a representational image. It looks like a copy paste. Notice the fog lamp and the C shape around it. Also look at the rectangular slots near the base of the C on both sides.

Both of these are present in the image of the Kluger I posted.

Agree, all they have seem to be done is replaced the logo. That's what a representational image means isnt it.

No publication so far has a proper front shot of the car so everyone's just "representating" their imagination at the moment.

I think this is only some bodykit on Ertiga. The middle seats cannot be called captain seats, and current armrest is far better execution of having two seats at rear than this monstrosity of folding backrest of middle passenger.
