What could this be?

Maruti Suzuki has had a very quiet 2020, is this their surprise launch for 2021?
I've always wondered what this device is on test mules that is attached to the wheels? Usually they're on the front wheels.

It's called a strain gauge.

Re: Scoop! Maruti Baleno full-hybrid spotted

If this is the BS6-Compliant 1.5L diesel, I wonder what reason would Maruti give for launching it, after they ridiculed diesel engines all throughout 2020.

Could this be the surprise Maruti was planning for?

Re: Scoop! Maruti Baleno full-hybrid spotted

Looks to be a Road Load data acquisition run.
Maruti may be tweaking suspension settings. Now whether that is due to a "new" powertrain mass potentially being introduced or simply a rework of the existing suspension setup is anyone's guess.

Toyota Glanza hybrid spotted on test. The same hybrid tech is being tested on the Maruti Baleno.

the test model can be seen wearing vehicle dynamics testing gear. Interestingly, this particular model has a DDiS badge on the side, but that’s likely because the R&D team is using an old model for testing.

expect this hybrid powertrain to be the same as the one on Suzuki Swift hybrid, showcased during the 2020 Auto Expo. That vehicle had a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine, which can develop a peak power of 91 PS and a maximum torque of 118 Nm. It came paired to a 5-speed AMT, boosted by a 10 kW electric motor, that generated 13.5 PS and 30 Nm. It also had a regenerative braking system, which helps recharge the battery. The Suzuki Swift hybrid can deliver a claimed fuel economy of up to 32 kmpl

Baleno spied in camouflage. Not sure if will be a facelift, hybrid, CNG, or a Turbo.
