| ![]() Given how Tata's recent production cars have stayed true to their concept versions, the Sierra will make me shout "Take my money, Tata" as soon as it hits production ! ![]() |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() To me the star of this auto expo is already decided. The TATA Sierra !! So nostalgic, they have retained the original design bits, timeless master piece !! I still don't think the market is still open for this beauty, but would love to see TATA take the risk and launch it ![]() |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() I don't know if it is just me or the rear overhang looks a bit too disproportionate to my eyes and reminds me of the Sumo Grande. I wish they retained the stepney on the rear boot like the original Sierra. It would give it a more sporty stance and up the SUV quotient. Is this going to be a 5 door? I see a subtle line at the rear separating the glass area and metal above the wheel arch. If yes then Tata already has a hit the ball out of the park with this new design of masking the rear door handle. The front grille is closed. Is this going to be an EV? | ![]() Has MarutiSuzuki given a timeline on when they are bringing in these full hybrids to India? It's about time we got these. Especially now, that the diesel cars are going to be a pain to own. Last edited by ridehard : 5th February 2020 at 10:51. |

| ![]() It is Sad to hear that it has started off on a dull note. However I personally found the revealing of so many electric vehicles at the expo very exciting. The Sierra is a stunner with its old tagline of 'Rough with the Smooth'. It has reignited old memories. In today's TOI there is a write up on the Auto expo that also claims very poor show up of bollywood stars and also that there was Chinese presence at some of the halls and at the venue, though the SIAM head made an announcement of the Chinese totally skipping the show and being replaced by their Indian representatives. The above disappoints me and wonder how it would be when it's opened up to the public from 8th to 12th Feb. That's where the challenge lies and the true success of the Auto show will be known. I hope the Chinese presence is totally absent to encourage higher public participation. I will be at the show on Sunday & Monday and have bought a N95 face mask just for added precaution and will carry a sanitizer too. ![]() Are any of you aware if Maruti has kept the Jimny on display or have they skipped this one. The earlier posts and news updates stated that the Jimny will be on display, however haven't seen any pictures or updates stating it is displayed at the show. | ![]() Guys a question. Can general public visit on 7th ? Provided ofcourse they have the business/enterprise pass for this date ? Or do they ask for some kind of proof of automobile business at the entry on 7th ? |

| ![]() They do not ask for any proof whatsoever. They would simply scan the barcode and let you in. I went there yesterday and today, got the QR code pass scanned and walked in. Make sure to check if there is any specific gate you need to enter from. On my pass, under the day, it said - 'Entry from all gates'. |

| ![]() It was 2 years back in 2018 that I first attended this biennial event and quite resolutely made up my mind to never give it a miss in future. For any car enthusiast, this auto extravaganza can be a goldmine to unearth new areas of interest within oneself. The 6 days' event (held from 7-12 Feb'20) witnessed a record 608,526 footfalls which make for an average of over 1 lakh footfalls per day. As if this was not enough to dissuade the agoraphobic loner in me, as a precursor to my visit there was also a very disturbing incident involving a commotion by the public. Reportedly, some visitors were being denied entry to the expo as they had booked their tickets online and had not bothered to collect the original tickets thereafter. In an ugly turn of events, when they protested and tried to force their way into the expo grounds, the police had to resort to lathicharge. Coming back to myself, I hail from Kolkata and work in the IT sector where getting leaves is more challenging than making other prior arrangements to make it to a faraway land to just attend an expo for a few hours. The journey typically consumed more time than one would spend in the fair. This itself invites dissent from family members and friends, close and distant, who consider this interest as nothing more than a madness. Braving all such criticisms, I booked my flight tickets from MakeMyTrip well in advance and on a Tuesday to avail of an offer by CitiBank card. I got a to and fro ticket for a total fare of just about Rs. 5000/-. Last time I had also booked a full day car from savaari but this time I wanted to try the metro route. My AirAisa flight landed me in Delhi's IGIB airport just in time art 9:55 AM. It was going to be just a day trip and so I was travelling really light with only a handbag to accommodate a diary and a book. Upon landing, I rushed to take the Airport Express Metro to New Delhi station. From there I changed to yellow line and reached Rajiv Chowk. Another change to blue line and I emerged at Botanical Gardens. To my delight, I found a plethora of buses waiting to board passengers for the Knowledge-II Expo Mart at Greater Noida. They charge only about Rs. 20/- from there and run really fast on the highway to stop directly outside the fair grounds in only about 20 minutes. This way it took me altogether about 100 mins from IGIB airport. It was really overwhelming to see such a diverse variety of cars on display in the fair. I could hardly take my eyes off the Suzuki Sierra Jimny 4x4 on display in the Maruti stable this year at the fair. It is likely to debut in India early next year. I hope they retain the 2 door model and do not customize it for this subcontinent. I shall now leave you with some jaw-dropping photos of the beauties that greeted my eyes in the fair: Last edited by khan_sultan : 14th February 2020 at 12:58.
