The LC500h is a 2-door coupe. It has a hexagonal grille at the front flanked by triangular headlamp clusters that have integrated V-shaped LED daytime running lights. At the rear, the car has arrow-shaped tail lights and a dual-tone bumper with chrome exhaust tips. On the inside, the LC500h comes with a 3-spoke, multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

The LC500h is powered by a Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid System. It uses a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and an electric motor producing 349 BHP. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Lexus claims that the LC500h can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 249 km/h.

If this is going to be priced over a crore, the chances of it working are bleak and knowing Lexus, it might just be.

IMHO the need of the hour for Lexus is reducing the prices through CKD route and bringing the IS. They could even launch the RC first to gauge response but an LC against a 911 or R8? I'm sorry but no.

Cheers!

re: Lexus LC500h sports car launched in India @ 2.16 crore

This has to be one of the best looking cars out there today. One of the rare cars to make it to production almost as-is from the concept stage. I've seen it in person and also sat in it at the Toronto Auto Show. This thing is an absolute piece of art. The quality and craftsmanship is almost rolls royce level. I would pick the V8 over the hybrid though. Not sure why they won't bring the V8 to India. In fact, if things go well, I would without doubt buy this over a 911. Firstly its about 30-40k cheaper than the 911. Secondly as a daily drive, this will be far more comfortable and luxurious. This doesn't even pretend to be a track car. I've realized that there is no point buying these nurburgring tuned cars coz your insurance will not cover track days and those cars will be extremely uncomfortable on normal roads and are also very expensive to maintain.

A friend bought a 911 GT3 RS a couple of weeks ago. She's a total car person but she said that she won't be tracking the car or even redlining it. Reason.. she plans to sell it for about the same price or a slight profit in 4 years. When you sell these cars, Porsche/buyers will check to see if it has been tracked or redlined using the onboard data. If it has, then the value drops. It's insane.

I would rather have a LC 500 with a V8 that goes quick, is very good on the back roads and will pamper me with one of the best interiors in the business. If I want to track a car, I'm better off just renting a M3 or a 911 at the track. Get the max insurance cover and have no liabilities.

re: Lexus LC500h sports car launched in India @ 2.16 crore

It appears someone from MB India CBU has joined Toyota/ Lexus. First, the Velfire and now this. Maybe Toyota imports one piece and launches in media or even sell to a Dealer principal but beyond that, no one in his right frame of mind is going to plonk over 2 Cr on this car. They should have gone with baby steps via CKD route, starting with ES and RX, which are one of their most successful products overseas. If BMW can price CBU X7 units at same rates like CKD at less than a crore, how do they expect anyone to buy an RX at 1,3 Crores? And for what- reliability or Hybrids?

n Looks you are not very familiar with Lexus India pricings. LX is priced around 2,3 Cr against Canadian rate of 110 k and LC500 is priced even higher here in Canada at 120 K; I won't be surprised if they target supercar customers instead.

You're right about the pricing. It's going to be insane. It's going to be similar to the LS pricing. My comment was about the car itself and not the price. Frankly, guys that are buying cars for over 1.5 crore aren't really bothered if its 2 or 2.5. Those worries are for us mortals.

BTW, the LC 500 won the comparison test against the Aston DB-11

Nice car, wrong engine. If they are actually bringing the car here, they should commit to it 100% and bring the V8 version. Not going to sell anyway, might as well bring the full-blown version for the lucky few who will buy it. If image is the reason behind this car's launch, it must be the V8.

Think about it - would we love the Mustang sold here if it didn't have the 5.0 engine?

Absolutely. The hybrid engine with a modified CVT makes no sense in a car like this. Either make it fully electric or go with the classic V8. The V8 that the LC has is an absolute gem btw. It sounds awesome too.

Looks Lexus is trying to get working capital for their dealers from the public

Recently a known had configured a 911 with Options exceeding 40 lac on a base price of over 1,6 Cr and he still paid 10 Lac advance. Don't know if Lexus/ Toyota wants to stay in the News and is planting such stories or is a fact, either way, very unlike the Toyota we have known in past.

That Lexus is undoubtedly the most stunning vehicle I’ve seen so far. It’s just so striking to look at! I can’t afford this but I haven’t wanted such an expensive car so badly since the days of the SLS AMG. I really hope someone in Bangalore picks one up and drives it around as public service.

Lexus previewed the new LC500h coupé to a select few in Bangalore before the launch. 3.5L V6 hybrid coupe with some distinctly Lexus styling with an expected price of about ₹2.2cr.

re: Lexus LC500h sports car launched in India @ 2.16 crore

Toyota, if you're going through this forum, please bring the 5.0l V8, not this dull 3.5l V6 hybrid with a rubbery CVT transmission! It just doesn't suit a car at this price band of 2.2 cr, and almost none of your prospective LC customers care about a fuel efficient vehicle, and please don't disappoint the enthusiast.

Strange, the Bangalore showroom has been purged of all cars except for this under covers (at least this morning!)

re: Lexus LC500h sports car launched in India @ 2.16 crore

Lexus' hybrid coupe, the LC500h, has been launched in India at ₹ 1.96 crore.

Quote:
Powering the LC500h is a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine that puts out 300hp and 348Nm of torque. It works in conjunction with an 180hp electric motor. The total system output of 354hp is sent to the rear wheels via a clever gearbox that combines a 4-speed automatic with a CVT. When used in manual mode, this allows the driver to choose from a total of 10 ‘gears’. The Lexus LC500h does 0-100kph in a claimed 4.7 secs. In international markets the LC is also offered with a 477hp, 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine option.
