Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

The Jimmy 5 door version will come to India but not before 2023 as per my educated guess. My Suzuki contacts tell me that it takes approximately 1 year after trials start in Suzuki India for a vehicle to be mass productionised. Till date, India trials have not started. So, a safe bet would be 2023. Suzuki 2022 calendar is anyway filled with launches. So, makes sense.

From the looks of it, the rear door appears to be quite small or is it the camouflage playing it up? I hope it is showcased at the Auto Expo 22 as an Indian launch and not just some aspirational vehicle of some other country where it is already being sold.

'Made in India' Suzuki Jimny arrives in S Africa, more are on the way.

Showcases its prowess in the Safari Drive.

The massive global demand for the Jimny has been overwhelming and we are sure that the increased production and assembly in India will enable more adventure seekers to live the Jimny way of life.

This plant recently started assembling the Jimny from 100% Japanese-sourced parts and components for delivery to markets in the southern hemisphere and the Caribbean.

It was announced in January that the Jimny would be added to the Gurgaon production line to help alleviate the long and ever-growing waiting lists for this model.

The Jimny has seen demand outstrip supply since its launch, helped in no small way by its proven off-road credentials

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Each time I read the title of this thread, I get a feeling that it'll remain an eternal one ! Even after 10 years, it would still hold good

When could I see an addendum in the title - " EDIT: Finally Launched"

A consolation is my 6 year old son watches Jimny videos and loves it. I'm hoping if not me, he gets to buy one once he turns 18. Maruti, you're not quite late yet !

How is this racism? It's a business decision based on demand and supply.
Many Diwali lights are made in China, but not for China, is that racism too?

MSIL probably does not see enough volumes selling in India so they're still undecided about launching it here. I hope they do though.

Lol mate, it was on a lighter note.
I know it's business, but I feel discriminated that Jimny is being manufactured 200kms away from me and I cannot buy it.

As the article mentions, if the Indian assembled Jimny's are made from 100% imported Japanese components then Maruti may as well not launch it in India.

The car will be overpriced and might end up costing more than a Thar! It'll simply flop before at launch.

Completely agree man. I really hope Maruti makes up their mind and bring it here. I don't even need a 2nd car right now and I will still line up in front of their showrooms to get this when they do!

I would agree with you if they were not manufacturing in India. But here they are manufacturing and exporting, so why not sell a few pieces to Indian public?

What I feel is that they have not indeginised parts enough and the imported components will result in higher price than they are willing to sell at. So let us wait till MSIL starts local manufacturing of components.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Wonder what if Maruti Suzuki had a better planning team and had made Jimny in India with a Tata Punch pricing? Would have sold lakhs of units compared to the age of this thread. Suzuki is really sleeping at the wheels.
