Some tasty pictures in that forum of the Jimny including one that looks like the Ford Bronco.

More realistic 5 door rendering of the Jimny:

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

While there is no doubt that Suzuki Jimny is coming to India, here are the finer details:

- Suzuki’s Kosai plant approaching full capacity ( > 1 year of waiting period in most cases), additional production was needed, And that’s where India and Maruti Suzuki come in.

- To supplement production from Kosai,Suzuki is setting up a new assembly line for the Jimny at its plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat, where it has un-utilised capacity.

-Large export volumes are what will give Maruti Suzuki the economies of scale needed to make the Jimny viable for production in India.

- Local manufacture commences in the second-half of 2020, with the first six months of production meant exclusively for exports.

-To begin with, it’s the Euro-spec Jimny that will be manufactured in India.

- In 2021, Suzuki will commence production of a larger, 5-door model in India and that’s the version that will go on sale in our market.

- Production of the 5-door Jimny will be shared between India and export markets.

- The 5-door Jimny will likely measure less than four metres in length.

-The India-spec Jimny will be powered by the 105hp/138Nm, 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine in MT and AT versions. Jimny will distinguish itself with its off-road hardware – four-wheel drive with low range will be part of the package.

-Maruti is targeting a sub-Rs 10 lakh price for the model and will be some price overlap with Maruti’s other compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza.

- Will distinguish from other CUV's with its fundamental differences as the SUV will cater to very different buyers. To add further distinction to the package from Brezza, Maruti will retail the Jimny from its premium Nexa outlets.

Indian manufacture - only RHD, or RHD + LHD?

Likely to be both LHD + RHD, for specific export markets.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Why make it less than 4m in length when small car excise benefits won't be applicable to it?

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Hope this kind of madness won't happen in India, but shows what a narrow 4-WD vehicle like Jimny can do. A man in China drives the previous gen Jimny through a pedestrian overpass to make a U-turn on a motorway.

This is why Army loves it. This is why motor trekkers love it.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Maruti Suzuki's export programme will receive a boost this year.

The company is slated to commence manufacture of the fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny SUV at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, initially for export markets, from May 2020.

This 5 door Jimny render still looks better. Just about the right length. Though i would love to have a 3 door version of Jimny launched in India. Maruti Suzuki should allow sale of 3 door version of Jimny in India . It wont lead to any additional cost since 3 door version will be manufactured India. I Hope MS guys listen to us Jimny lovers and launch a 3 door version for sale in India.

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

It is so funny and at the same time I feel I was cheated my whole life as it is just now that I realised the cars name is 'Jimny' and not 'Jimmy'.

I still can't believe that I kept reading it as Jimny all these years. Anyways, I've always loved this little SUV and would love to see it on our roads.

Maybe they will plonk the 1.5 diesel when it's available.

Even if they don't, I'm not really complaining.
The smaller the size, the better it will be off-road.

Best video I've seen on the Jimny:

Don't miss the Indian mention at 26:40 onwards

Just saw it last night actually. One of the concerning points is that the 1.5L engine in the 2 door version feels very weak (His wife could barely overtake a fat man on a moped). So I'm wondering if it will be enough for the larger 4 door version, although the weight of both will probably be the same knowing MS' penchant for stripping down and lightening their cars in the Indian market

Only a Diesel in an SUV will do. I don't want to be revving the pants out of a petrol SUV with aerodynamics of a brick, which when revved will give me dismissal mileage + no fun at all.

Like Kartik Aryan Says to Sara Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal 'Aana hai toh puri tarah aana ya toh aana hi mat'.

Maruti Diesel also please! 5 doors and Diesel, take my cheque right now!

Looks like you've never driven a Maruti Gypsy. The 1.3 MPFi was a beast.

Here's what he Jimny can do

And here's a Gypsy doing 4x4 things better than a Thar

Re: Maruti to finally bring Jimny to India?

Honestly, I'm waiting for the Jimny to hit the market soon. I'm looking forward to buy this / the new Thar as my next car. However, I would really love to see Jimny in 3 door variant.
