I am quite confused with the Jimny Development , there is 3 Door and 5 Door version in plan , but as per my knowledge it is scheduled for 2022 and it will be produced locally. Production will start late Q2 or early Q3 2021 as some of the critical exterior and interior components are still under development and MSIL doesn't seems to be in a hurry. So Jimny currently under production in MSIL is probably for Export purpose which was brought here as CKD

The Jimny Sierra is brought into the country via CKD route from Japan and assembled at MSIL’s Gurgaon facility. The three-door off-roader is sold in five single- and three dual-tone colour options.

5 years wait period? That's sheer madness. Suzuki maybe onto next gen Jimny by then. They had better roll out an EV variant. Why don't other manufacturers jump in on this madness and get their own version of Jimny out, to ride this craze?

Three door Jimny will be assembled from CKD kits and will be a bit expensive, localization will be fast tracked for containing costs. If interest is tremendous for the 3 door Jimny the 5 door Jimny will be de-prioritized and come at a later date.

Maruti is looking at the viability of three-door in the wake of the success of the Thar. The three-door Suzuki Jimnys will begin reaching dealerships for displays in Jan 2021, and Maruti and Suzuki will be keen to know if the car can be sold here without the added expense and time needed to re-engineer the SUV as a five door.

But in the provided link, nowhere is written that cars will be put on show in nexa showrooms next year. Its written that only 5 door jimny will come to India when it will be developed.
Please clarify.. I am not able to find where it is written that 3 door Jimny will come to nexa showrooms next year.

I don't know if the Jimny and Thar would belong in the same price bracket ? But if they did, everyone is probably waiting for a Thar v/s Jimny comparison

Wait 5 years for the Jimny? Is Suzuki really struggling this bad?

I do wish they launch the Jimny here considering the popularity of SUVs. If India is the export market for the car, I hope we may see a structurally sound car with all safety features.

Picture the comparison like the Maruti Ciaz vs Honda City. Jimny will be the cheaper SUV with lesser power and features.

If you want the additional power, features, and more capability off road, you’ll pay the premium for the Thar.
