According to a media report, Volvo is likely to launch the 3-seat XC90 Excellence in India on September 3, 2019.



The XC90 Excellence comes in a 3-seat configuration with individual captain seats in the second row. The reclining seats have massage function as well as ventilation and heating options. The rear centre console houses a pop-up touchscreen and a mini-refrigerator is placed between the two seats. The car comes with crystal glassware and champagne flute holders. Further, a glass partition separates the cabin from the cargo compartment.







The Volvo XC90 Excellence is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that is turbocharged and supercharged and is paired with an electric motor to produce a peak output of 401 BHP and 640 Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

I'm sorry, but wasn't this available earlier?

I have seen this here in Chandigarh Tricity around 2 years back, of all the places, and it pretty much looked like a normal/civilian vehicle - no Consular plates or anything.

I see this as clearing international stocks before the new generation comes in, much like what Ford did with the Mustang. Otherwise, I can't seem to think of another reason to launch a new variant of a product which is at the end of its lifecycle

That NDTV link speaks of the 3 seater version. This version does not have a front passenger seat. The seat being replaced by a foot rest / table and a large screen.

The current available Excellence version is a 4 seater.

slango97, was your relative's car a 3 seater ? If yes, I think it might be a private import or special order.

Doesn't seem like this car has gotten off the showroom floors. 2019 brand new being sold via BBT at 10L off. I am sure if one sits across the table the discount would be much better.
