The DSGs are also impacted. Will look out on the T-Roc forums on T-BHP.

This issue with cold start is in manual gearbox only.

There is some hesitation between D2 and D1 on bad roads in DSG. On bad roads sometimes T Roc downshift the gear from D2 to D1 and a small jerk is felt during this shifting as engine rpm increases from 1000-1200 (D2) to 1500-1700 ( D1).

This shifting was more common during break in period.
There is no downshifting on speed breaker.

DSG (dry) negatives:
a) not smooth during gear shift
b) not reliable
c) may heat up during long bumper to bumper traffic(go for TC or CVT etc)
d) usually fuel consumption is more as it is heavier than manual transmission.

DSG positives:

a) lightening fast shifting of gears
b) relaxed driving in moderate traffic
c) Overtaking is easy irrespective of gear and speed.

Thanks! And yes I vividly recall this downshifting and jerky behavior of the DSG during my ownership of the Polo TSI & Vento TDI. I think it used to be a DQ200. Assuming its the same dry 7 Speed DSG on the T-Roc as well, albeit a more ironed out one?

Yes, it is the same DQ200 in T Roc.
VW must have updated its DSG software and tuning with the engine as compared to the earlier model having DQ200.
This is the only automatic car I have driven (11000 KM) so can't compare much with other automatic transmissions.

Please go through this T Roc UK Forum (1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo) to know the problems in the 1.5 TSI engine with manual transmission.

An already strong marketing campaign by VW and Skoda coupled with a blessing in disguise of recent safety and poor quality issues of Koreans have set a perfect stage for these cars, Unless VW and Skoda do something out of the box to screw this golden opportunity

From the posts above, I was scouring evo India site and found this. Possibly the entire article from the January issue. It is written like an ad and nothing much we already don't know of, but still they are building the hype

Ze Germans are coming in hot... can't wait!

Re: India spec Volkswagen T-Cross to be unveiled at 2020 Auto Expo. EDIT: Named Taigun

Something interesting I stumbled upon while scouring older threads. Most of us (at least I) first heard the Taigun name when VW showcased it at the 2020 auto expo along with the Skoda Vision IN. Turns out, the Taigun concept was already showcased at the 2014 auto expo.

Quoting the post I just discovered:

That rear with the mounted spare tyre is rather good looking.

Mods, please edit/delete this post if it's too OT.

There are some rumours about a VW cross-over which will be launched before Taigun. Anyone has any information on that?

Looks like team VW has started Taigun brand building exercise. Received the following teaser email today (I had registered on their website about 2 months back showing interest in the car).

Re: India spec Volkswagen T-Cross to be unveiled at 2020 Auto Expo. EDIT: Named Taigun

VW is showing no urgency in launching this vehicle.

Just wondering what are they waiting for? Some kind of astrology aspects, lol?

Counterpart of Taigun, Kushaq was in prototype phase in Jan 2020, the final version is built and now testing on roads. However, Taigun which was near production in Jan 2020 is still under wraps, no information and such lack of urgency from VW.

This behaviour by VW is a classic example of ignoring customer expectations and taking them for granted. VW should learn from Amazon on how to be customer obsessed.

Now that we have some insights on the Skoda kushaq, is it safe to assume that Taigun will have similar dimensions as they will share same platform ? Kushaq from a size perspective is mostly going to sit between a Seltos / Creta and a Sonet / Venue. If this is true, Taigun too won't be a true substitute to the Korean twins (other than the USP of VW's safety).

There was also a post on media drive for the Taigun in Alibaug..haven't heard anything from that so far.
