Looks severely under-tyred, especially in the last pics above with the blue car.

5th-gen Honda City recalled in Thailand

According to a media report, the fifth generation Honda City has been recalled in Thailand due to quality issues.

The report suggests that a fault with the rubber strip that is found around the windows on the doors has come to light. Dealerships in Thailand have been asked to hold back deliveries until further notice.

The fifth generation Honda City was unveiled in November 2019 in Thailand. The car has a redesigned front fascia featuring a large chrome insert flanked by LED headlights. It has LED daytime running lights integrated into the headlights. The car has coupe-like roof line and at the rear, it gets wraparound tail lights.

In India, the new City is likely to be offered with a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine could be mated to a 6-speed manual and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The new City was unveiled in Thailand in November 2019. Compared to the outgoing car, it is longer and wider, but has a shorter wheelbase.

The fifth-generation City features a redesigned front fascia with a large chrome insert on the grille and LED headlights. It has a coupe-like roofline and wraparound tail lights. On the inside, the car gets a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, twin-dial instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit.

In India, the new City is likely to get a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Eagerly awaiting the 5th Gen City in India. Although reports suggest Honda will go with 1.5 ltr engine, keen to drive the RS with 1 ltr turbo charged engine in India.

New Honda city will be a good upgrade but I just feel it's getting a bit too big and too long and too pricey. Current ZX AT petrol is 17 lacs on road, I'm expecting this to be 18-19 lacs on road. Which will just push it up and make the civic redundant and when the hybrid comes the civic will be dead horse which no one will buy. Don't know what Honda India and otherwise Honda in general what they're doing with their product planning. The amaze in my opinion just doesn't have the same quality that you expect from a 9 lac rupee product and if they are benchmarking against the swift Dzire even that car has atrocious build and interior quality.

This car is having a TN plate. Does Honda have some facility in Tamil Nadu? Their plant is in Noida and Gujarat.

Unless Honda offers a V model like it does for the current City priced at around 11-12 lacs on road they are going to find it very hard to mass market this car.For 17-18 lacs i would prefer a Civic or Altis for a few lacs more. It will be interesting to see how they price this car at launch.

Honda has factories in Greater Noida and Tapukara, Rajasthan. AFAIK they make the City, Civic and CRV at Noida and the lesser models at Tapukara

re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

The new Vento (Virtus) is confirmed to get the 1.5 TSi for the top end version, and there are rumours of a 1.4 TGDi variant for the next Verna - if not the 1.0 TGDi in the full Venue spec power of 118hp, 172Nm. The updated Vento and Rapid comes with similar 1.0 TSi 113hp, 200Nm motor.

Cars from a segment below like the Hyundai Aura now have a powerful turbo petrol option with ~>100ps/ton. Tata Nexon comes with a 120ps, 170Nm petrol and XUV 3OO comes with a 130hp, 230Nm motor.

Hope Honda does a surprise with the 1.0 VTec Turbo and the RS variant at launch!
