re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

I'm not too excited about this. The wheels look way too small and there seems to be a lot of wasted overhang at the from and rear. The current-gen facelifted City looks a lot sportier. This looks like a boring sedan. A luxurious one, but still boring.

Even I feel the same. The car has become lengthier, but it has lost its charm according to me. IMO, this now resembles more of a scaled up amaze and not the gorgeous City it used to be.

re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Honda's are still coming up with 1.5L I-VTEC and I-DTEC but compatible to the BSVI norms. RS Turbo (1.0L) may or may not be introduced in India. Its still a suspense. It might also wear a Mild-Hybrid badge on its body.

Upon launch, the fifth-gen City will continue its rivalry with the upcoming Hyundai Verna Facelift, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Yaris and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62-2019_12_17_honda_city_07.jpg

- From the launch date until today, December 17, 2019, the new Honda City has received orders from Thai customers nationwide for a total of 4,500 vehicles.

-The highest number of customer orders goes to the SV model, the most 45% of the total order. Next is the RS model, which is 40%. The remaining 15% is the S and V.

-Honda is still not ready to release a test drive for customers.

Quote:
The new City has an exterior dimensions of 4,553 millimeters, width of 1,748 millimeters, height of 1,467 millimeters, wheelbase 2,589 millimeters, front wheel width 1,497 millimeters, rear wheel width 1,483 millimeters, the minimum distance from the floor to the bottom of the vehicle is 135 millimeters. 40 liters. The empty weight of the S and V models is 1,150 kilograms. The SV is 1,154 kilograms and the RS is 1,165 kilograms.

Compared to the previous 4th generation City, which is 4,440 millimeters long, 1,695 millimeters wide, 1,471 millimeters tall, and the wheelbase is 2,600 millimeters, the new model has a 113 millimeters longer, 53 millimeters wider but 4 shorter. Millimeters and has a shorter wheelbase of 11 millimeters
-Every model of side mirror comes with built-in turning lights. Can be adjusted and folded electrically (except for the Model S)

Tyres:
Quote:
starting with the Model S will have 15 x 6J steel wheels with 185x60 R15 Maxxis MA-P3 tires, while the V and SV models will be polished 15 x 6J alloy wheels with polished 20-spoke designs. Also with 185/60 R15 Maxxis MA-P3 tires, while the RS model is a 16 x 6J alloy wheel with polished 15-spoke pattern, wrapped in 185/55 R16 Yokohama BlueEarth A tires.
-all sub-models will have Auto Door Lock by Speed, Immobilizer anti-theft system and One Push Ignition System engine switches as standard

Seats:

Quote:
Front seat cushion Of every model Adjusted by a 6-way lever (recline - back, move up - back and adjust - high - low) for the front passenger seat. Adjusted by a 4-way lever (unable to adjust high-low). Updated Sponge from the original, just soft, firm up more clearly

The front seat backrest is designed for the upper area. Squeezed into a narrower 60 millimeters compared to the previous model, so although it supports the shoulder blades to a certain extent, the shoulder support that used to be good Was also reduced, while the extra wing Helps to support the driver's body better The center of the backrest Supports and pushes towards the spine front seats. The back side of the front seats backrest Changed design To help increase the rear leg room for more passengers at the same time

Not only that, cushions with longer lengths were added to the inner layer of the cushion by 10 millimeters thicker for added comfort, with the edges curving downwards to form a large waterfall.
-Front seat belt is ELR 3 point in both positions. It comes with a system to reduce impact and pull back automatically. Pre-Tensioner & Load Limiter but the main disadvantage is Still cannot adjust the position high - low is the same as the 4th generation City

-Access-exit from the rear pair of doors Made it a little more convenient than before Because the entrance-exit is wider than the 4th generation,

How is the seat on the new City's back seat?
Quote:
the 1st and 2nd generation cities still have the most overhead. The 3rd generation (2008 - 2014) is still considered good. But when it was the 4th model, my head was attached to the roof of the roof. After this 5th generation, there is still a little space left Hair that has little left Still close to the roof ceiling If sitting
Quote:
while the legroom or legroom of the rear passenger is More spacious Enough to sit comfortably cross legged

Engine Code P10A6 Gasoline 3-cylinder DOHC 12 valve 988 cc. Cylinder x Stroke 73.0 x 78.7 mm Compression power 10.0: 1 Fuel injection Straight into the combustion chamber Direct-injection With a variable valve system, both Dual VTC (variable by rotating the camshaft shaft Both the intake side and the exhaust side) and the variable VTEC valve lift system only on the intake side Trailer Air Compressor System Turbocharger With Small Intercooler Water Cooled
Quote:
There are many advantages of this P10A6 engine.

Developed with technology Reducing cylinder capacity (Downsizing)
Fuel injection system is Direct injection into the combustion chamber (Direct Injection) with Multi-point PGM-Fi injectors to increase the efficiency of the ignition. To be more accurate
VTEC system in this block power Will work at engine cycles between 1,000 - 3,500 rev / min
The Borg Warner B01 Single Scroll Turbocharger from the Wastegate series is electrically controlled. Engineers say the Boost can be up to 2 Bar, which may be a very short boost, not a long soak and it will vary accordingly. Using
Turbo works with Intercooler system (reduce the heat of intake before entering the combustion chamber) cooled by water. Helps to reduce the airway to be shorter And helps to reduce the temperature of the air before entering the combustion chamber better
There is an Idle Stop system (shut down the engine itself when the parking brake is on, red lights And start the engine again When withdrawing the foot from the brake pedal) which is required, otherwise it may not pass the ECO Car Phase 2 pollution test.
Quote:
Before turning off the engine to park into the house It should be idle for 1-2 minutes, as usual for cars that use Turbo power, it can be used for a hundred thousand kilometers for sure.
The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62-2019_12_17_honda_city_12.jpg

Gear ratio D 2.544 - 0.402
Reverse gear ratio 2.726 - 1.543
Gear ratio 4.992

Acceleration 0 - 100 kilometers / hour. Can do 10.48 seconds.
Acceleration 80 - 120 km / hour, can do 7.87 seconds

Quote:
But in real driving As soon as the gas pedal is pressed fully to release The car did not dart and soar from the beginning. It continuously speeds up. Don't forget that it is normal for cars that use CVT gear, which is often programmed with mechanical gears. Come to delay the car a little When moving For gear preservation But the delay from waiting for Turbo to start (Turbo Lag) very little after 20 km / h already The car will start to pull more clearly and continuously after 60 km / h. The energy that can be experienced is considered Equally with a 1,600 cc engine sedan

This is the result of this engine. Designed to focus on reducing friction in the system As many as possible first And then began to put various technology into the car, the result Is the continuation of the acceleration Softness driving That work well together, almost no Turbo Lag symptoms
Quote:
it is as powerful as putting 1,600 - 1,800 cc engine without compressed air.
Quote:
the steering wheel is another feature that I would like you to try on. It has been improved a lot. Almost the best among all City models that have been sold And better than most competitors of all models Because it responds sharper. Linear is much better. It's very natural
Quote:
The suspension has been improved from the previous model very clearly.
Quote:
Even driving through curves that have uneven surfaces, wavy waves, or curved surfaces that have a sinkhole Suspension can absorb shock Absorb softness, firmness, firmness, body control a little better. Continuous turning into the S-shape With normal speed Can be done with more confidence, different from the original car

re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Design Review:

Upcoming Honda City design is more mature, sub-dued compared to the current gen. It won't offend anyone. Designers have done an excellent job with the clean lines and conventional looks which matches the tastes of today's sedan buyers (middle-aged mature family persons to retired-but-active age groups). So all the ex-OHC owners, will be disappointed, City is no longer made for them.

Only exception to the otherwise pleasing design is the frontal design - looks like a swollen upper lip and a weirdly bulged nose. But I get it, it is "family look" and city's designers have no choice but to adopt it.

Overall, happy with the way City's next gen is coming up. It is extremely late to refresh the product, but not as late as VW. Sedans are on a steady decline. I don't think this iteration of City can change it. So, Honda has decided to go with the flow and have not tried to be radical or path-breaking. They are not setting new benchmarks, pushing the tech innovation etc. They are just giving you a sensible car at a sensible (I hope) price.

This looks like a Yaris from the back. The tail lamp design in the new City seems damage-prone.

re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

As usual, it looks “under-tyred”. Its high time Honda provides at least a 195/55R16 by default. Also, referring to the Thai City pictures, the cup holder between the front seats seems to intrude excessively into the leg-space of the middle passenger in the rear, and seems to mimic the same ergonomic flaw that plagues the Yaris.

2020 Honda City spied with old Honda City – Spy shots.

Quote:
Now, thanks to automotive enthusiast, Dheeraj Gupta, we bring you yet another set of pictures of the upcoming Honda City in its test mule avatar; this time from Delhi. Conveniently enough, the test mule was spied beside the current-generation Honda City, in its pre-facelift format.

The 2020 Honda City test mule wore TN plates and heavy camouflage. Even still, we are able to make out most of its design characteristics, such as the full-LED headlamps and tail lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, etc. Interestingly, the Thailand-spec model debuted with 15-inch wheels.

I think the design is mature, quality is supposed to be good and if it launches in a proper Camry style hybrid it would be good. But 2 things that bother me personally is the increase in dimensions. At 4545 mm in length it is longer than my CRV and I think that is not the ideal size of a "CITY" car and secondly the price. Knowing the people at Honda they will charge a lac premium over the current pricing and that means it will kill the civic instantly and also be too pricey in my opinion. Don't understand Honda's plan.
