Because it is still a Honda. Cheaper to maintain then either a ciaz and or a verna. Having owned Maruti and Hyundai in the past have always seen inflated service bills and recurring maintenance in Hyundai cars. Whereas the less said about Maruti tin can cars the better. I have owned 2nd and 3rd gen Honda city and to be honest without battling an eye lid I may just buy a 4th gen hybrid whenever that launches.

| ![]() Frankly, Honda seems to have taken the game away from the Toyota Vios (its competition in foreign markets) and the Verna and Ciaz in India. The new City is certainly bigger, likely better built and far more spacious than any of the cars above. Honda is a petrol engine specialist and I would be very very surprised if the the 1.0 L turbo VTEC is not a best in class engine. Honda would also have sufficient experience to mate the CVT in a far better manner than before. If I could afford only one car (and since I dont like SUVs), the new Honda City would look just dandy in my driveway ![]() Personally speaking though, for me the 1st Gen and 3rd Gen City were the best looking models. Honda is no longer a market leader as an automobile manufacturer and its iconic status from the mid-80s to early 2000s is now best viewed in the rear view mirror by its fans. The new City reflects that trend, it is a very good automobile, but has no performance pretensions at all and would not look out of place with a Toyota badge on it. Could it also be that with the Electric Vehicle revolution now well underway, Honda decided to play safe and save some dollars for the next generation, which has to be an proper hybrid / all electric version? To save some moolah, Honda seems to have used the same instrument cluster on the Amaze and new City. | ![]() The front bumper is an exact copy of Altis 2015 model. Trust me, I own one. The rear tail light is a copy of lexus IS and ES. The doors and fenders look bloated, like the car is struggling to hold its paunch in. Such a step back from the existing design language. What's with the AC dials?! That's such a last decade design! Even the alloy wheels look like they couldn't come up with a new design so just copied and pasted from a twenty year old catalogue ![]() |

| ![]() My first thought was "jacked up Amaze" maybe? But I reckon 2020 City has kind of understated looks that will grow on everybody with time. I'll still give this design more points than upcoming Verna. Not to forget this is going to be the longest and widest car in its segment so that is another point bagged by 2020 City. Excited for the RS version. Competition in C2 segement is going to be a lot tougher. |

The one on the Amaze looks better in my eyes, do not like the red accents on the City console at all.

| ![]() I just bought the current version of City in august 2019. In my opinion the new City also looks great, especially the RS version. But if Honda is deleting feature to cut price then they are going to have a hard time getting numbers from this version; as it is the market is shift towards SUVs. |

| ![]() It looks U-G-L-Y. Honda seems to have lost its way and is in the follow up or catch up mode. When civic was launched, it was the leader with digital cluster, next gen steering, super ergonomics. Now city evokes a yawn. |

| ![]() I am disappointed with this new city Wont talk about looks since they are subjective but apart from that below are my points Competition giving Turbo Petrols while Honda is giving us the same 1.5 (This will be the 3rd city with the same engine) Competition giving Dual Clutch gearboxes while Honda is giving us a CVT Competition giving fully digital displays while Honda still stuck with analog ones (and on top of it they are using the same one from Amaze) Every new City model had something better than the previous model be it looks or interiors but not this time its not the case I hope one reason is that this time they have focussed more on quality than on all the bells and whistles |

| ![]() I really miss the simplicity and elegance that went out of Honda design with the 3rd generation City and the 2nd gen Jazz. Sample a pic of my 19 year old City 1.5 Exi - still a looker, if I say so myself ![]() The 15" rims from the 3rd gen City, fill up the wheel arches nicely. Not bad for a cut rate, made for ASEAN only car, which used parts rummaged from late 80's Honda Civics. ![]() Too many cuts and creases for the new 2020 City, that too for an all new design that would have cost a pretty penny. I also hate Honda's solid wing face front grill design ! The overall effect is a car that is a little frumpy and tired around the edges. The alloy wheel design is boring too, 17 inchers would spice things up quite nicely (maybe a swap with those on the Civic ZX). ![]() Last edited by Redline6800 : 28th November 2019 at 19:19. |

| ![]() Strongly Agree, Honda CITY 5th Gen looks one class above of its segment. Indian Spec usually have more GC compared to their global sibling. Love the elegant yet sharp and edgy design of the current- gen City. Looks especially menacing from upfront with those chiseled slit-style headlamps. Also dig the flowing profile view, just the right amount of sharpness in the design.Posting a pic of my ride which I co-incidentally snapped this morning, when idling on the road waiting for a friend and admiring my car ![]() The upcoming design just makes the whole car too bland, big and boring. | ![]() Can your birdie confirm which engine options will a city come with? I seriously think that at times obvious news is 'planted' with publication houses so that the actual product can surprise people (I am hoping that they will give us 1.0 turbo engine) Last edited by Sheel : 30th November 2019 at 08:12.
