| ![]() The above picture, if its really the 5th Gen Honda City, then its a big change in the way the car looks. For the last 10 years the Honda City has remained quite the same in spite of a model change. Basically the one from 2007-08 and the one from 2014-15 had very similar shape and form. This new one seems to have a lot of cues from the Civic, and a bit from the new Amaze as well. All said and done, I think the C sedan segment is at its weakest now. What Honda City was 5-6 years ago, its now probably the Creta. The executive sedan is now an executive Cross over! With very similar prices, customers have started picking the Creta, Seltos over the C segment sedans. So what Honda eventually needs is a Creta Rival. And they are no where near as of now. The Seltos and even the Hector have come and captured the imagination of the 15-20 lakh segment customers. Honda City has the USP of a fantastic all round car with a great petrol engine and an automatic. But cars such as the Creta, Seltos are not far behind in these factors as well. So the New City in 2020 may give Honda a boost and even an edge over the older Verna and the Ciaz, but no where near the new segment kings. |

A true Hybrid model may generate some interest as there is no such choice available from other companies but as per the news so far that is planned for later.

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I think that was for a purpose: excellent seating comfort, space and high 'H' point, leading to very easy ingress and egress. You can walk into a City unlike lowering yourself into cars like the Verna. This should be a major update and hope it works as well as it has done before and rekindles the flame in a dying segment. I hope the seating comfort is given the same priority as before. Last edited by Durango Dude : 21st November 2019 at 21:11. |

| ![]() Seems to be yes. The below image doesn't show the design as DRL. I first thought its the DRL which will translate as turn indicators. Asking too much? Quote: Last edited by saisree : 22nd November 2019 at 15:03. | |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() The car seems longer, the bonnet has a significant bump. Maybe it would be at the size of the older eight gen Civic maybe, this will give the City much better space inside the cabin. |

| ![]() Looks bigger than current Honda city almost nearing D segment. The prices will also go up then. It will be interesting to see then how different it will be from civic. If city can offer 90% of what civic offers(assumption) then why would people buy civic. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Going by the recent spy shots in post #83 it seems the design of this new gen City will be on the lines of the Honda Cider; ![]() |

![]() Looks to be a size wider than the current model from the spy pics though length might be similar. Let’s see if the interior is better. Expectations on that front have really been scaled up by Kia and MG in the past few months.

| ![]() The front design theme of the 5th Gen City is a clear departure from the sharp aerodynamic sedan'ish low front stance in the previous 4 generations to a more blunt SUV'ish front face with a much higher bonnet height, on the same lines as the 2nd Gen current Amaze. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() One more thing I observed and which is typical of Honda's, the rear section has slumped a bit at the end due to rear occupants. A common Honda problem (I used to own a Civic), the rear is sagging a bit and the wheel well seems to have come close to the tire a bit. |
