re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

2 cars here (Alto AMT & Ecosport S) as my wife and me work and our timings are completely different.

While cabs are an option, they are still not dependable enough to replace the convenience of your own car.

1. The issues with ownership of a Diesel vehicle in Delhi NCR. No Diesel -> No 4WD. Everything else is just a commuter.
2. Moved over to the best thing Petrols offer (in my budget) - Motorcycles. hugely more fun and faster.

2 cars. One for me and one for my father.
City Idtec - Now mainly used for inter city runs.
Tiago D - mainly used for up and down to Delhi everyday.
Our work situatuon requires the usage of both cars otherwise we would have been fine with 1 car only.

We had more cars than the drivers and recently sold the Santro in cars24.
Now, only one per household.

One Car. Used for 1 km daily

Maybe the poll should have an option of "No Cars" as well!

re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

Currently we are a 4-car family. Technically a joint family but with time the peak number of 10 has withered down to 6. The younger ones have flown away and gradually some of the older ones have flown away too. We really should be a three car family but I have left things untouched for now. Eventually in a few years I expect we will come back to a 2-car family as the circle of life gets completed. It is interesting that my wife & I started with one Lambretta moving on to car+ scooter which looked great in 1990 and then to 2 and later 3 and then 4 cars as the kids grew and the older folks moved in with us and now the circle of life is gradually moving in the other direction and I wouldn't be surprised if in 5 years time we will be back to 2-cars.

re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

I have 2 cars and 2 two wheelers in my garage,
Nano Twist - stress free city driving
Linea Tjet - highway for long / short trips.
Somehow I could never find a single car which would satisfy what these 2 cars do well so perfectly.

No cars!, then can they get a Team-BHP membership, I doubt if there are anyone on the forum with "no-cars"?

Always felt that the forum is oriented towards four-wheelers over two-wheelers. How about having official Team-BHP reviews for bikes and scooters also?!

Think there should be many. Had joined team bhp when I had no cars but two bikes and it took another 3 years to own one!

The reason why the No car option was suggested is that there are people I know (majorly living in cities) who were car owners but currently don't keep any owing to parking and driving problems!

re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

Single car. Had a Brio and traded it for the Nexon. Wanted to hold on to Brio as it was a nice car with absolutely no issues mechanically. But wife refused to learn driving and she is happy with OLA and Uber.
I was contemplating holding onto Brio as the re-sales is not that great and it would have been nice city run-about but lack of parking space ensured I had to dispose it off.

Single car. Staying at a small apartment building, I cannot even think of buying a big car, forget about owning second one!
I have one suggestion, how about modifying the poll to include 0,1,2,3, >3 cars?

re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

Ours has always been a one-car household.
My parents stayed in a different town altogether when I was working in India, and theirs too is a one-car household.
My brother and sister-in-law both work and theirs is therefore a two-car household.
My in-laws' place is technically a joint family, so that is a three-car household (one car per driving member).
