Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

We are a three car house hold at the moment and 2 bikes

Innova ZX AT- Used between me and dad and for all family outings. Will be used extensively for touring once dad retires next month.
Octavia TDI AT- Used by the wife; now most chauffeured. Preferred car for outstation drives if i am driving. Done 60,000 in about 35 months
Mercedes C200 (W204)- Used by dad and me. Done just 28,500 in 5.5 years

Had a 2011 Honda City AT that was used for local use which was replaced by Innova. Will get a small-ish AT post April 2020 for local running.

Kawasaki Ninja 300- Used for local runs and very few Sunday rides. 6,000 done in 5 years
Street Triple RS- My Sunday escape. nearing 10,000 in about 21 months of ownership

Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

We are a two car household from one-and-half years. We are a five-member family, with me as the sole driver. Felt the need for a second car due to work commitments. See my thread here.
1. The sedate and spacious Manza Clubclass 1.3 Q-Jet EXL (2013) - primarily used by my wife (chauffeured) and for those times when we drive with our parents.
2. The exhilerating Abarth Punto T-Jet (2018) - my daily driver.
The two cars are like chalk and cheese, and complement each other.

Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

Have only one car, a bike and a scooter. Bike takes care of office commute. Have not felt a need for a second car. Probably would have had to buy a 2nd one if Ubers and Olas did not exist.

Interestingly to see the poll heavily skewed towards 2 car households.

Have only 1 car.

2005 Maruti Swift. Was purchased for family in my hometown. I was in college then.

Now it's with me in Bangalore. After it completes its life, no plans to buy another till I am in Bangalore.

Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

Technically 1 car, currently. Voted 1.

4 cars, 2 motorcycles in a 5 member family,
Parents are driving a 2015 Honda City - they're in a different city temporarily.

Brother, and SIL drive a 2019 Octavia L&K TSI, 2013 Honda Brio - again, nearby in Chandigarh, but still a different city.

I drive a Polo GT TSI, ride a Yamaha R15, and R3.

We also have a non-running Kinetic Honda, which I hope to restore someday soon.

Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

Had two cars CIAZ and EON. The second car EON was used by my wife for dropping kids to school and rarely by me when I go towards City (old or central Bengaluru as I stay in outskirts) Thanks to OLA / UBER and also my kids are in college now, EON was hardly being used (Less than 100 KM Monthly for last 3 months). Sold of my EON. It had done a total of 18K on ODO when sold which was nothing for a 4 year old car.

2 cars for me and my wife. Our offices are at different ends of the city and we stay in an area with no other reliable mode of commuting.

Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

Two car household at the moment. We used to have three cars until last year, but sold one-off thanks to Metro being a mere 300m walk and Ola/Uber.

2011 Swift Zdi-Beater car and does 90% of the 'car' duties. Chauffeur driven almost always.
2015 Jetta DSG-Mainly for Highway drives or when I have to drive more than 20kms within the city, but only when parking isn't going to be a problem.

Two wheeler-Activa and Pulsar which are used mostly to run errands and within a 5km radius where parking a car may be tough.

Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

I own a car and do not bring it to office. Prefer to commute between home and office by bus. I hire a driver to take my wife and kids to skating class weekly twice.

Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

We have only one car at home at present, Hyundai Creta diesel auto. Both our sons are abroad so we felt maintaining two cars was a waste of money. For the second car requirment, Uber & Ola are available but less said about the waiting time for the cabs nowadays. We had a Swift ZDI till both our children left overseas and we might go in for a second car when the need really arises. Till then it is solo Creta.

Re: Number of single-car vs multi-car households on Team-BHP

We have two cars at the moment. A Rapid Petrol which is our primary car. And a Tata nano Automatic that is just a backup car and the car of choice when we have to go to places which have parking issues.
The Nano was intended to be the car where my wife gets her hands set on driving. That never happened. So it gets very little road time.

I have been trying to get a driver in e-city but with no luck.
Do you know of an agency which provides drives in BLR?

I get the drivers from an agency called Total Drive. I have been using their services for the past 3 years. No complaints so far. They charge Rs 300 for 1st 4 hours and then increment by Rs 50 or 100 (need to check on this as I have never exceeded the 4 hr time span so far)
