Skoda's Premium Sedan:

- Grows in size, get more equipment and a more powerful engine option, the all-new sedan will get a new name, and will be PRICIER.

- Will share a lot of its body panels with its sister car, the VW Virtus, and its basic profile will be similar

- likely to measure around 4,480mm ( a bit shorter than Honda City, but will get a WB of 2651 making it comfortable for the rear passengers.

- Gets a much larger boot( ~ 520 l) than the Rapid

- will get the 1.0L TSI in both MT and AT configurations, the 1.5L TSI could be another possibility in the DSG configuration( earlier reports indicate only a 1.0L TSI engine to be offered)

- Launching in Q1 2022

- with pricing will be in the Honda City Territory, the current RAPID will likely to co-exist in its Skoda's sedan line-up.

- Could it be called 'Slavia' or Laura ?

I think the "Slavia" name has a nice ring to it, although the "Laura" monicker may bring in more takers. That being said, despite not being a fan of sedans I would love to see the competition heat up again. The Honda City is a classy car, and the Ciaz brings excellent value to the table.
Skoda has a real chance here to price it somewhere in between those two and they might have a winner of their hands.
Notice how I've excluded the Verna from the above list ; that's because it's rear seat space is worse than an Amaze, and right now if I had to pick one I'd pick between the Ciaz and City. But Skoda can change this big time.

I think this is a great move by Skoda. They retain the Rapid to sort of compete with the under 4m sedans, get the new sedan to compete with the Honda city which is the defacto benchmark in this segment. And VW will bring its own version of this, so the group will have 3 sedans in the form of Rapid, and the two new ones.

My view is that VW would then use this car as the base to launch a premium hatchback under the Polo nameplate.

Very interesting times ahead then, after decades and decades we finally see some genuine attempt from the VW group to launch decent number of models in a short span.

If things go as per above plan, we will have Polo, Rapid, Slavia, Virtus, Kushaq and Taigun, between the 7-20 lakh segment.

Nothing outstanding sprang to mind. The jacked up stance coupled with the smallish tyres reminded me of the current Honda City, which is certainly not a compliment .

Headlights visually look huge but the DRL line should segment it nicely. Unusually tall boot so space inside must be airport taxi-like.

Very usable tall armrest in front, looks spacious at the back and the interior plastics look hard-wearing in typical Skoda fashion.

Overall, a desirable sedan which will sell in India with that frugal 1.0 TSI or the sprightly 1.5 TSI

Looks like base variant (steel wheel, manual A/C, and basic small infotainment screen). Top variant will look nice with bigger tires and attractive colours. Front looks almost like the latest Octavia. Is it the same we are getting or modified one?

This car in picture & video is Skoda Rapid launched in 2012 and discontinued in 2019.

Also called as Seat Toledo with production time from 2012 till 2019.

What we are seeing is facelift of Skoda Rapid which was launched in 2017.

Technically VW/Skoda be launching 9 year model calling it Premium Sedan

This is PQ26 based sedan version launched since group is not coming up with MQB version.

The good part is interiors are updated to 2021 current ones in body of 2012 product.

VW Polo Mk6 based VW Virtus is sedan version, launched in 2017. That is real successor to VW Vento/Skoda Rapid sold in India since 2010.

The Slavia with the 1.5 TSI seems to be the practical (realistic if I am being honest) upgrade from a GT TSI. The Octavia 2.0 TSI seems rather like wishful thinking at the moment

Not only the GT TSI but also the Vento lineup amongst other cars from the VAG stable. Moving towards a Jetta or an Octavia back in the day used to be a reasonable but somewhat affordable price jump but that isn't the case now with the new Octavia.

The Slavia seems to be loaded with a nice amount of bells and whistles and can be the affordable refresh that the masses would go after. Really excited about this one!
