You've got quite an eagle eye, sir! That seems spot on. All in all, the car doesn't look very inspiring to me, from the rear. But since we're not even going to see one of these in flesh here, I shouldn't be too hot and bothered about it.

Zac Hollis confirms the arrival of the next GEN. SKODA RAPID notchback, for India.





- All New Skoda Rapid will be tailor made for India in the MQB A0 IN platform

- Will be a Notchback and to arrive in late 2021

- Internally code named ANB and will be underpinned by a tailored-for-India version of the modular MQB A0 platform will arrive after the SUV (Kamiq inspired)

- The midsize sedan will share some of its body panels with the new Volkswagen Vitrus sold in South America but will feature the latest Skoda design elements to help differentiate it from its VW Sedan

- New Skoda midsize sedan to be around 100mm longer and much wider than the current-gen Rapid.

-It will be powered by a locally built 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that will deliver 116hp and around 200Nm

- The equivalent sedan from VW will be inspired by Virtus , launching around the same time frame as the Rapid

- Both cars will not be having a diesel variant.

Fantastic news for enthusiasts.
1 - A Rapid RS sedan on the cards. It might feature a 1.5 TSI engine pumping out 180 ps.
In it's stock form it produces 150 ps and 250 nm torque.
2 - Transmission details are still under wraps but it might feature a 6/7 speed DSG.
3 - The next generation Rapid will debut in India in 2021.

Could this be the reason for “rider” variant on the current 1.0 TSI Rapid? Also, the new “ANB” sedan to come with a DSG the rumour says? If that is indeed true, buying the current Rapid seems not so worthy IMO. Time will tell.

The VW/Skoda group should bring their 1.6 diesel engine also. There are only the Asian sedans that have diesel engines here. Those who want diesels and the Germans/Europeans are not able to find one around, either in sedans or in mid-size crossovers. What a bad state of things!

So, this also must come right at the end of the next year.

This is a company that launched a car called Laura in India. The connotations around buying, repairing, showing off and selling the car, especially in North India, were interesting to say the least.

Ok so I might be wrong about this, but this mule is sized very much like the VW Virtus. Is this the new Skoda? Extremely sorry for the bad image quality, spotted in Pune.

To be honest I mistook it for the Octavia before, but then it is deceptively smaller. The front is a bit different than the sharper and sleeker new Octavia. But, from the rear it is very difficult to differentiate. Lights are similar, similar notchback design, hence I thought it’s the Skoda Virtus twin, as we already know the Virtus is already sized like the previous gen Jetta, I think this is the new Skoda Whatever they call it.
