Yupp exactly. On top of that gurkha is already coming with led headlights, metal hard top, snorkel and much more accessories which are actually useful in a off-road/traveller lifestyle like rooftop carrier, windscreen grill etc.

Have you guys seen what Mahindra offers as accessories ? I mean no utility at all. Seems like he accessories team had one motto. Lets be as anti-utilitarian as possible.

Really!!
You mean a 89 bhp engine VS 130/150 bhp?
And what about availability of ASCs?

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

The Road has been laid out by Mahindra Thar, with the numbers it has crunched so far in sales. Gurkha will either have a tough competition or may create a market share of its own. I did not like the interior that much as they were very utilitarian and this is from the first glimpse that we all have seen.

The current gen of Thar has done a good job when it comes to Interior and I am hoping that the Design Team at Force would have worked on it, seeing what the competition is offering. I hope the 2.6L Engine is not under-powered for the size that this vehicle will be. That is something we'll learn here when the TeamBHP review is out.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

If the pics from auto expo are transformed to reality, they still will be one or two points down the Thar on interior design & quality. Moreover, they need to launch it with 115 bhp engine, few capable 5 door variants & authorize commercial dealers to handle service in remote areas.
I guess I'm asking too much from them. However, I have dealt with their commercial division & they are much faster than personal vehicle division it seems.

Ignore that. Many including myself started out with great Gurkha dreams until a big reality stone fell on my head.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

Gurkha is undeniably a FORCE to reckon with. An enthusiast needs no introduction to the vehicle's capabilities. Right from the days of Tempo Trax, FORCE (then TEMPO) has had lovely powertrains. Remember the Mercedes derived OM616 diesel mill? The issue was always with the build quality and A.S.S, I am not sure if it still is. Also, the lineage hasn't helped matters much. Overt resemblance to Trax Cruiser and Toofan hasn't gone well with a lot of buyers, IMO.

Sir, are both the versions different mechanically? Something like fixed vs variable geometry turbo, or is it due to the ECU being mapped differently? Assuming either one of the scenarios, can swapping the hardware or remapping the ECU bump up the numbers to the Travellers specs?

I'm keeping a close watch on this thread. Waiting for the 5-door version to be launched and hoping I can afford it at that point in time!

There is a common misconception that an engine's output can be increased by just messing with its computer, that is a recipe for killing the reliability of a good engine, there is no magic in there just add more fuel and get more power though not necessarily proportional, if there ever was some magic it would have qualified for a Nobel prize

You mean 4 door without a rear tailgate? I’m confused…

Given the volumes that Force sells of both engines, Frankly it is very unlikely that there is any major mechanical changes. It is most likely a tuning thing. Even the Turbo's are fixed geometry for both engines. I think a good dealership for Force can re-map to the Traveller Spec.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

Motoroctane had a random article on the new gurkha but the pictures show the 5 door gurkha. Is this the first time we are seeing the five door version ?
