The current Xtreme models don’t have this engine.

That said, the revamp required is not their product, but quality control or assembly line. It’s 2020 and high time every Gurkha that rolls out of the factory remains same or rather has the same set of problems.

Yes. But the current Xplorer and Xpedition versions run on the 85hp engine. According to the report they might be upgraded for BS6 or totally scrapped.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

I hope the horrible dashboard layout and quality has been sorted out and we no longer have to see the RPM meter in between the AC vents.

Force must also give the revised version of 5 door variant as well.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

I see more Gurkha spyshots than real cars in real life :P

I dont understand why is FORCE continuing with such a waste of a GTM strategy and wasting resources on building new products and refresh models.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

BS6 Force Gurkha spotted again, gets 2.6 liter four cylinder BS6 diesel.

Quote:
The interior has been revamped and sports new dashboard layout with touchscreen infotainment system but the plastics and materials used continue to be utilitarian. The off-roader’s prospective customers want a vehicle with hardcore capabilities at a decent budget. So, it is not surprising that the Pune-based automaker decided to keep the superficial aspects of it simple. That said, the interior is a significant improvement over the outgoing model.

Also new in the 2020 version is a 2.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that is compliant with BS6 emission norms. The engine produces 90 hp and a bit over 200 Nm of torque which are modest but will get the job done off the road. Transmission is a 5-speed manual unit and serious off-road enthusiasts can opt for 4×4 system with low-ratio transfer case. The company will also likely make several off-road accessories available including a snorkel (the previous test mules were equipped with it), skid plates, alloy wheels, winch, etc.

The complete vehicle with no camouflage has been displayed at the Auto Expo with full technical specifications? What is the purpose of this clickbait link?

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

All said and done you have to give credit to Force for attempting to launch it. Hope they are as keen on selling it. I am yet to get a test drive which I have asked more than a year ago. Lack of proper service even during warranty based on what I read was a big deterrent.

How many do they even sell per year.

When buying a new vehicle, I would keep after-sales service/support as a key selection criterion! With wafer-thin service network of brands like Force Motors, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, etc., it makes minimal sense to bet your hard earned money on these, despite some excellent products in their lineup. With warranty related nuances, you will not have an option of availing services of a good FNG - at least for the first few years - which is not the case with pre-owned cars.

I totally agree with you. With force these issues are even more pronounced which makes it a very challenging buy. I wanted to buy the Old Pajero for quite sometime. I have liked it since I first laid my eyes on it more than 20 years ago. But I am more comfortable picking first hand or used cars less than 3-4 years old. I could never take the plunge.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

There is no way that this thing with 85 bhp, will compete with the new 2020 Thar. Force has lost it's chance. Now they may as well try to sell this to people who want to convert it to evening eateries. If they had the extreme solid axle version with the 2.2 Merc engine, I can see it finding buyers, but not with the asthmatic engine.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

Sigh! Why are they even bothering? They have a virtually non existent dealer network, and the little that is there perhaps aren't informed that their primary job is to sell cars. Now, with the new Thar promising to be a very competent product, this one will be DoA, unless its priced gob smack into the entry level bolero territory and aimed only at semi urban and rural markets.
