Rumour: Skoda Kodiaq RS to be launched in 2020

According to a media report, Skoda is planning to launch the Kodiaq RS in India sometime next year. It is expected to be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).

The Kodiaq RS is a sportier version of the regular model. It features a black grille, black ORVMs and roof rails as well as blacked-out B and C-pillars. The SUV also gets 20-inch alloy wheels and dual exhaust tips. On the interior, the Kodiaq RS gets black Alcantara upholstery with red stitching, 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

The Kodiaq RS is expected to get a 2.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, diesel engine that produces 236 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is likely to be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters and an all-wheel drive system.

Oh that will be one drool worthy vehicle. It already is a looker in "normal" form. I always spend a few moments just to admire it when one passes nearby. These new expected cosmetic bits will only enhance it to a level up. And DSG with paddle shifters together with a 500Nm monster. Things hardly get better on our roads in these segments.

I hope it comes & it sells faster than hot cakes. We need cars like these really. Even just to look at! Just bored of the Furtuners. I wish one of the mods buys it!!!

Now that would be a desirable cross over indeed!! If they can price it reasonably (am not saying cheaply) it'd surely be an enthusiast's delight. 500Nm Torque would definitely blow the competition away!! Those 20 inch rims are damn cool too!!

Slightly OT is there a chance for the Telluride's arrival in India?

As per my understanding Skoda had decided not to launch the Kodiaq RS because it's price would put it out of contention for most customers.

It currently costs around 40 lakhs in the UK and would cost around 65 -70 lakhs in India.

Some pics of the Kodiaq VRS:

This could be good alternative to someone who didn't get the octavia VRs due to low ground clearance.

Pricing would be the key point here, hope they don't price it close to cars like Q3 and X1(top-end versions).

It would be nice to have this car here but I don’t know how they can price this sensibly. It will be in the Q5 range, may be the new GLE as well. Not to mention the new GLE 250 coming with an upgraded 240hp Diesel engine.
