re: The Tata Gravitas (H7X) SUV. EDIT: Branded as the Safari!

Tata Gravitas base variant with 6 MT BS6 engine – Spied

Compared to Harrier base variant, the base Gravitas seems to have a bigger touchscreen. Drive modes are not on offer on this variant.

Also, noticed that AC controls are manual.. so this seems like their low end variant

This is a ridiculous decision by Tata. Penny wise pound foolish!
They should look at standardizing the kit across the Harrier/Gravitas. As a customer, I would like to have all of these (except #1 & #9 obviously) in the Harrier as well; even if it comes at a cost. Provide more color options too!
Oh, and a usable hand-rest for the driver will be a bonus!

Completely agree.

Its clearly mentioned as "Base variant" in the OP.

So, a full separate badge "Gravitas" just for captain seats & 1 extra row of seats? No other distinction required in the two cars? Basically a coup similar to Ertiga - XL6 branding wise. Would that be accepted at such premium positioning? Perhaps then simply having 2 variants of Harrier would make more sense. No separate name plate.

I agree - having two variants of the Harrier would make sense; even from an economic perspective. Not just the branding overhead, but sharing the interiors keeps the cost down too? Keep it simple. Name them Harrier and Harrier XL.
Both look quite similar inside and outside.

I, as a prospective customer, have no issues accepting it. AFAIK - both are supposed to fall in the premium category, so its not like differentiating between a Hexa and a Harrier.

Having it under the Harrier monicker probably also allows you to club the sales figures together. Individually, i don't imagine Gravitas doing any better numbers than Harrier for far too long. Am pessimistic or maybe realistic given what the product seems to be bringing.

And what difference does that make? Net numbers and money actually made by the company will stay the same right?

For a company where the last car that worked probably was Tiago and Nexon, anything that tells the customers out there that their models sell in some numbers is a good thing. Imagine launching model after model and being stuck in 1-2xxx range when newer brands come after you and clock 13xxx? If Harrier and Gravitas have essentially the same underpinnings, then why not call them both Harrier and show higher numbers? They could probably save some money in building a new brand and invest it to fix the short comings of the Harrier instead. Cause it does have a few when comapred to the Kias and MGs.

When comparing with 13000, 1000+1000 or 2000 total, make hardly any difference. Also - the 13000s of the KIAs and MGs will settle down after the initial hype spins down. I think those will settle around 6-7k a month once their prices jump up around February.

As for the single badge idea, I have another thought. The Harrier has pretty much failed to do justice to the anticipation built around it. Look on the forum and members find it a failure. Would it be a wise decision to add another car/variant on what is considered a failure badge?

Is this really going to production in this colour or is this just another camouflage?

Most likely camouflage. They want people to think this as Harrier and not pay more attention to it

It's definitely a camouflage! How can everything be of the same colour, even the logo!
Or maybe like the dark edition, it's an orange edition

Such orange color scheme is generally used on Crash test prototype cars.
