| ![]() Why aren't they testing it in say Ciaz or Ertiga? Is it cause it was used in S-Cross so easier to pass unnoticed? Am glad this engine is making a comeback though the 1.5L from maruti is a charmer in itself. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() The sticker on the car says G 451. What if the G signifies "GASOLINE"? Aren't we expecting a petrol powered SCross to launch soon? Would this be that one? And the 1.6 badge either intentionally put there for generating forum fun everywhere? Or perhaps they are using an old 1.6 spec car as donor to put that petrol in and test? I won't be surprised if its just a 1.5L petrol powered car on test. (Although, there seems to be a typical Maruti placement vertical intercooler besides the radiator. So maybe a diesel afterall.) | ![]() They have the option of using the Corolla diesel 1.5 D-4D too. Why pay royalties again to Fiat when you have a better deal with Toyota Bharat. | ![]() In an ideal world, Maruti should make the current 1.5 D engine BS-VI compliant and use it in Arena models like Swift, Dzire, Ertiga and Breeza. On Nexa models like Ciaz, S-Cross, XL6 and probably Baleno (difficult due to 1.5 tax rebate), they should use more premium and fun-to-drive Fiat's 1.6 L engine. It'll be a good differentiator between both the brands. |

| ![]() Just wishing that they choose the erstwhile S-Cross quality and build especially for cars costing 12+ big ones. The high number of rogue cabbies/ errant racers getting such power in a light shell will mean more highway crashes. |

It had the 1.6L then got facelifted and they might have removed the 1.6L engine and put in the 1.5L of their own into this car. Then testing BS6 emissions. The 1.6L badge is cosmetic and obvious that they don't have to remove it for testing. Getting the 1.6L engine which nobody else uses, pay additional taxes since above 1.5L and then pay royalty to Fiat after spending so much on developing your own 1.5L engine makes zero sense. |
