Rumour: Toyota & Suzuki to share CNG tech

According to a media report, Toyota is likely in talks with Suzuki to share CNG technology in India.

Rumour: Toyota & Suzuki to share CNG tech-2018toyotayaris15.jpg

It has been reported that Toyota is looking to source CNG variants from Maruti Suzuki in India to keep manufacturing costs down. The latter already has a range of CNG cars in its portfolio and has announced plans to offer CNG variants of all its small cars.

Neither Maruti Suzuki nor Toyota have confirmed these reports.

Earlier this year, Toyota and Suzuki had announced a joint product collaboration. As part of the alliance, Toyota would gain access to some of Suzuki's models, while the latter would benefit from Toyota's electric technology.

Interesting to see that in this initial phase Toyota stands to gain a lot of from Suzuki.

Already with Glanza clocking in 11,320 sales till date, not sure how much could Suzuki could benefit from Toyota in India, as Maruti Suzuki already working on its own on the WagonR application.

Ok these "partnerships" are starting to get me annoyed now. These are bringing absolutely no value to us as a market!

Bigger brands like Toyota & Ford are resorting to brand engineering & selling same products that we already have from Indian (M&M) and pseudo Indian (Maruti) brands! These big car makers being in India is only useful if they bring better technology, modern vehicles, more safety research into India. Otherwise them being here makes no difference!

If they are just trying to "survive" in India and not investing to bring modern technology, safety & cars - I'd rather Ford & Toyota Quit for good. Utter nonsense.

CNG Tech? What the heck? There are 10 local garages in Mumbai which offer top-class CNG installations. Why does Toyota need Maruti here? CNG installs are simple + straight forward today...no rocket science there.

Looks like yet another move to only *justify* the early benefits of the partnership.
