As I understand from Steffen Knapp's statements, initially Taigun will be powered with 1.0 and then there could be a GT version with 1.5; just wondering how that could affect T-Roc!

I bet VW will not be not worried about loss of volumes on the T-Roc once the new products arrive. The T-Roc and Karoq are just meant to be low volume bridge models, to keep the excitement about the brands alive and reinforce the new positioning of VW and SKODA as well engineered, aesthetically superior, feature rich products which are not cheap, but high in value. Once the Taigun and Kamiq arrive in 2021, they are fully expected to take the limelight and rake up volumes. The T-Cross and Karoq will then gracefully exit, leaving the real fight for market share and profits to the new entrants.

I agree with that & holding my purchase till 2021. I don’t want to buy something because everyone else is.
If one could relate the car manufacturers with current mobile companies it would be something like below :
1) Audi,BMW,Mercedes - Apple
2) Skoda,VW,Ford,Toyota - Oneplus
3) Maruti,Hyundai - Xiaomi,Realme

Indians love the features that we get & peace of kind from Number 3 for the price they spend.

I would really want Number 2 to give products to India which compete with Number 3, wouldn’t mind paying that extra premium.

Exclusion:

1) Kia - since they are pretty new & not sure if they fit in 2 or 3.
2) Honda - HRV is their beat bet but doubt they can price it correctly for Indian market.
3) Mahindra - They make good cars but the appeal in Urban cities is moderate. In a way they are included since Ford is included

No offence to anyone on the rating for manufacturers comparison & Exclusions. These are my personal opinion

Now it seems Skoda KLIQ is the production name of the Skoda Vision IN.

Skoda Kamiq to Europe/China and Skoda KLIQ for India.

What a lame name! Would suit a camera but not a car. It gives the impression of something temporary and fleeting and not that of a solid, lasting, well-engineered vehicle. Kamiq, on the other hand has depth and passion ringing from it. They should have stuck to Kamiq for India.

Immediately reminds me of a Swedish snus pouch brand that brought that category in India - even when I have never experienced any tobacco product myself. they should have thought of something else with a K. A bit more imagination would have been good IMHO.

I won't be surprised if some conservative Indian head honcho in the organization's Indian operations thought that the name "KAMIQ" has a close similarity with a peculiar Hindi/Sanskrit word/concept related with natural reproduction & suggested a name change in this market.

Honda has a scooter by name Cliq in India. Won't that create a conflict. Just wondering if that is allowed to have a two wheeler model's name to be badged for a car in the same market ? It spells different and pronounced same though.

Similar thoughts if Toyota brings their Harrier to India that can lead to name conflict with Tata Harrier

Well to be precise, the moped is named Honda "Cliq" with a C. And now it is discontinued.

However - Honda would still be holding rights to that name plate as per the trademark registration duration applied for. For something like "Kliq" that does come too close to a registered trademark, the original licensee has the right to challenge and block the release of a name by other organization going through legal channels. However - its the decision of the 1st trademark owner. If they don't block it - other user can very much apply for a trademark & use it. The authorities don't block it in such cases proactively.

You were too fast on the keys like the 'click' of a button. More aptly, you really 'reined hard' on the keys

I realised my folly and was editing that post with the correction and by then your reply to the post pops up

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Skoda Kamiq spotted in India

All (.. almost) is known of the Skoda's SUV ( KOSMIQ, KLIQ, ??) for India.

- 1.0L TSI/ 1.5 TSI engine
- 6 MT/6 AT ?/ 7 DSG
- Arriving in Q2 2021

A cost reduced KAMIQ ( KOSMIQ, KLIQ, ??) in the offing, now seen in patent images:

Skoda Kamiq spotted in India

If this so called Kamiq or Kosmiq or Kliq is launched in the Creta / Seltos segment, I think we have a worthy alternative to the Korean twins. At this point of time this 12-18 lakh SUV segment is dominated by two cars which are virtually the same. And there is just no competition in sight. Skoda cannot outsell the Creta or the Seltos, but it would truly provide a fantastic alternative. However, Skoda must remember that the Seltos and the New Creta have got really long list of equipment now, from paddle shifters to Sun roof to Heads up display and so many others. So Skoda cannot come under prepared and expect that the Indian customer would overlook the lack of features simply because it is offering a slightly better built and engineered car.

Haven't they said it's coming with a 1.5 TSI?

Skoda is testing both 1.0 L and 1.5 L version here in India. (Test cars details below)

This one here is a 1.5 TSI.

Re: Skoda Kamiq spotted in India

Given that these images dont resemble the Kamiq, and given that the name is alleged to be Kliq(short name), what if this is a sub 4m Venue rival? 1.0l Kliq in the price range of the rapid.
1.5 Kamiq in the Creta range?
