Maruti Omni, Bajaj Rixa, Mahindra Commander are the few, I will feel unsafe to use for any journey.

On the same note the city buses and Tata 407's are always scare me on the road - thanks to the attitude/class of drivers. They might not be unsafe for passangers/occupant, but surely to the other road users

Well, OMNI heads the list of unsafe 4-wheelers (only the 3-wheeler autos are worse) from a crash protection, balance, high C.G. & overturn potential, no buffer for front occupants, thin body sheet, engine inside passenger area, puny and thin tyres, ...
And if its an older Omni with that high roof line, then its the unsafest amongst the unsafe, literally. Once, I drove a high roofline Omni, and it was a revelation! Also, I have seen Omnis lying heavenwards on its roof on more than occassion!

Not if it is a well maintained vehicle with occasional checks for any leakages, etc. I try to stay away from the cars, mostly Omnis & 800s some of which have local LPG kits installed!
Auto's are not only unsafe, they are more dangerous due to their driving habits!

In Bangalore, large trucks tend to break down in the middle of the road.

I dont care if they are heavy, the truckers need to get pushed or pulled to the side!
or else be fined.

You can also experience the same situation on a speeding highway at night - a truck parked in the middle of the road!

This might be a bit new but my choice goes to....the Skoda Laura.

I can hear you all already saying that it isn't unsafe, but what it swings it for me are the lights. Agreed xenon lights are safe for the person in the car but they effectively blind the person coming on the opposite side. Think about it..

Normal high beam is nowhere near as bad as Xenons' high beam

Recently I almost hit a car... It was a dark evening and the opposite vehicle who was driving with low powered car suddenly put the High Beam HID light. This almost blind me for few sec. Now many cmp comes with a factory fitted. I believe RTO should take a action on them.

Earlier it was only upper segment expensive cars that came with Xenon's. But with Laura introducing them as standard, there are a lot more xenon's on the roads than is safe.

I created a new thread about xenon lamps as this was going off-topic. Can mods please do the needful and merge related posts to that thread? Thanks.

i just tested and ripped an omni cargo 2003"junk" of a FMCG distributor and what I felt is that it is the safest vehicle on earth.

i took a sharp turn at 70 kmph and, not surprisingly, it toppled.

of course, I was wearing a helmet while driving the van.

not kidding, I did this today.
