Zac Hollis in the recent interview indicated they wouldn't totally shy away from the 2.0 L diesel motor if they feel the market demand is there. I really hope they bring it back at some point. Too good an engine to be kept in abeyance, even with the BS6 caveat. Till then, one has to put up with their 1.5 TSI sadly - Be it on Kamiq, Tiguan, T ROC , Karoq. For me, it's a big NO to a Skoda/VW sans the 2.0 L oil burner. Bring it on Skoda please !

The new ŠKODA OCTAVIA SCOUT:

Quote:
Boasting off-road virtues, the new-generation OCTAVIA continues the SCOUT models’ success story
› Multifunctional lifestyle estate with a rugged appearance and 15 mm more ground clearance
› Even more spacious and the first OCTAVIA SCOUT with front-wheel drive on request
Quote:
Efficient TDI and TSI engines and, for the first time, front-wheel drive
A new, EVO-generation 2.0 TDI with a power output of 147 kW (200 PS) and 400 Nm of torque is celebrating its premiere in the OCTAVIA SCOUT – it is the most powerful diesel in the history of the model range to date. What’s more, in addition to four-wheel drive, ŠKODA is now also offering its lifestyle estate with front-wheel drive. Customers can now opt for a 2.0 TDI with an output of 85 kW (115 PS), a 1.5 TSI delivering 110 kW (150 PS) – both of which are equipped with a manual 6‑speed transmission – or an e-TEC version of the 1.5 TSI featuring a 7-speed DSG and mild hybrid technology. Alternatively, there is also the choice of one of the two range-topping engines – a 2.0 TSI producing 140 kW (190 PS) and a 2.0 TDI delivering 147 kW (200 PS) – or the 2.0 TDI offering 110 kW (150 PS), all of which come with all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DSG as standard.

ŠKODA announces the Eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative: the new ŠKODA OCTAVIA G-TEC

The 4th-gen Skoda Octavia. EDIT: India launch pushed to 2021-1gtec_logo1440x960.jpg

> The new ŠKODA OCTAVIA G-TEC’s 1.5 TSI produces 96 kW (130 PS)

> CO2 emissions in CNG mode are around 25 per cent lower than when running on petrol

> Natural gas range of 500 km* in the WLTP cycle

The OCTAVIA G-TEC is fitted with a 1.5 TSI, providing 96 kW (130 PS), and achieves a range of 500 km* in the WLTP cycle when operated purely using this type of fuel. Three tanks installed in the underbody store a total of 17.33 kg of CNG. A 9-litre petrol tank ensures mobility in regions without suitable refuelling infrastructure.

The new OCTAVIA G-TEC will be launched across Europe this autumn.

IMO in India nobody's going to buy an Octavia CNG. It will be a very big dent on the EGO of the person driving a brand new octavia to a CNG station.
However, it can be a very good option for the rapid. If they could provide close to 500km range in a Rapid CNG with similar technology which does not interfere much with the boot space & an affordable maintenance package, cabbies will stand in a line outside the Skoda dealerships to buy one.

Heck cabbies, I might be buying one. I have a running of close to 100 kms daily which might increase in the coming times and I might be able to pay at least half the EMI with fuel cost savings alone.

Dear Skoda, if you are watching this thread, please launch the wagon (estate) version. Scout (rough road version) will be even better . Estates had few takers when they were selling the Octavia Combi 10 years back but now, things have changed and people seem to be opting for cars which are more practical.

The car like all Skodas looks great. Although the front grille and the logo placement shouts BMW, and it is odd as it is from the makers of Audi.

Consistent as ever - a next gen / facelift of a Skoda car looks better than the outgoing one. Kudos to these guys really.

From the side - the curvy slope / rake of the bonnet into slimmer grille & headlamps up-front is so much BMW! Its like mocking BMW by reminding them how good their cars used to look with the slimmer kidney-grilles before the current large generation arrived.

How long does one have to wait for the new Rapid now? I hope it looks half as good as this.

A very good detailed exhaustive review of exterior and interior of Octavia Style Variant. Love the key fob

The rims on the car don't do justice to the looks. Look very plain jane unlike the rest of the car.

Hopefully they launch the car with some kind of diamond-cut rims rather than these.

Looks real good! And yes, getting a BMW vibe from looking at this as well.

2021 is going to be a good year for car buyers - loads of good options!
