Very much confirmed. DQ381 it is:

DQ381 comes with the 2020 Octavia 2.0 TSi AWD, for example.
DQ381-7F - Front wheel drive applications
DQ381-7A - AWD applications.

DQ380 - Cheaper version with lesser torque now exclusive for China. Was found in few Golf variants but now all DQ381.

Skoda has also replaced the traditional gear lever with a switch
Just like the hand brake being replaced with silly looking button on dashboard/console, this is yet another technological "advancement" I despise.

If this is the new 'minimalist' approach, wonder why we even need the switch, might as well just have paddle shifters and be done with it.

OT: Doesn't he represent the Skoda organization? Nice response and clarity of thoughts in his tweets, however he should not use "I am not taking advance....". We are not buying from Zac, we are buying from Skoda.

Lovely news though. Market needed some new stuff. I wonder if VW is coming up with a sedan in 2021.

If the 2.0 TSI’s pricing is between 24-26 ex showroom, i may regret buying the karoq

1.5L TSI Octavia IV POV drive (although India is getting the 2L TSI.) No talking and only driving is what I like!

With this one can also get an idea of how the Kushaq 1.5L TSi manual will feel like.

Re: The 4th-gen Skoda Octavia. EDIT: India launch pushed to 2021

The real specifications are yet to be out. Therefore, there is a chance that India might get the 1.5 TSI as well (as offered in the newly launched Kushaq).

I personally think that the lower variants of the Octavia might get the 1.5 TSI engine with a Manual gearbox or maybe an automatic, as the efficiency would be more (compared to 2.0 TSI) with ample performance. This variant would be pretty VFM and feature-rich too and would attract the majority of the buyers.

The 2.0 TSI might come with the L&K or maybe the Sportline variant, in short, the higher variants along with a DSG Gearbox.

My mistake! I wanted to refer to DQ200 - wrongly mentioned as MQ200. Thanks for pointing this out!

Re: The 4th-gen Skoda Octavia. EDIT: India launch pushed to 2021

Will Skoda launch the new Octavia Combi in India ever ? While station wagons have failed in the market previously , the apathy towards sedans and the dilution of the SUV moniker present an opportunity to introduce a new market niche in the form of a low rider City SUV

Re: The 4th-gen Skoda Octavia. EDIT: India launch pushed to 2021

I really hope it comes it fully packed with 2.0L TSI engine from the superb with DQ381 gearbox. With a price bracket of 20-25L ( which is highly unlikely), except the Octavia to be selling 1.5k units monthly which is not bad at all.

That just shows his sense of ownership of the brand. Zac Hollis can be the turn around man for Skoda here. His brevity in speech and written format is top notch.

I see it from another perspective. We all know how high handed Skoda used to be, and how bad the customer experience was because it looked like the customers were at the mercy of the workshops and dealers with no support from the management. By saying "I" and directly communicating via twitter, it not only implies he's taking personal responsibility for Skoda's actions (after all he was sent by HQ to be the man to turn around Skoda) and make the whole process transparent/more approachable for the customers and fans.

Don’t feel bad or regret the decision of buying Karoq. I think it is a wonderful machine and will be on par with any car launched within next 2/3 years. Considering pricing, yes it might pinch a bit but both Octavia and Karoq are two different machines having their separate DNA.
Skoda’s India Project 2.0 is making people notice the brand again. First Kushaq and now Octavia. The overall launch cycle is pretty aggressive which is a good sign. Now they just have to Price both vehicles sensibly and Revamp their existing After Sales support network.
I think there’s positivity around their new project
