| ![]() MG has released a teaser video of the upcoming Gloster SUV. ![]() In the video, MG has highlighted some of the safety features that will be offered in the Gloster. Besides the standard safety equipment like airbags and ABS, the SUV will also get automatic park assist, radar guided cruise control and automatic emergency braking. The MG Gloster was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The 3-row SUV is a re-badged version of the Maxus D90 sold in the Chinese market. It is expected to be imported as a completely knocked down (CKD) unit and assembled at MG's Halol plant. Spy images suggest that MG could offer multiple variants of the Gloster and higher variants could get quad-exhaust tips. The SUV could be powered by an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 218 BHP and 480 Nm. The engine could be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The MG Gloster will be positioned above the Hector and will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4 in the Indian market. | ![]() The MG Gloster is being benchmarked with the Jeep Grand Cherokee and not the Fortuner and Endeavour, but pricing could be closer to these two! |

| ![]() They need to undercut the Fortuner/Endeavour/Alturas trio to make an impact. I am not talking about a dent in sales numbers but rather shake things up and wake up Toyota and Ford. These global brands need to be willing to bring technology available overseas quickly to India. Toyotas in the US has great interiors with a load of tech. Fortuner/Crysta here don't even get Apple Carplay/Android Auto! Where is Ford bi-turbo engine that even Thailand gets? We are no longer a dumping ground! |

| ![]() Basically get ready for an interior that is an BMW X5 ripoff. Who's complaining though ![]() I think MG will undercut the rivals and that frankly is the only way for this car to succeed. A mini SUV from MG with gizmos in the Venue/Ecosport/Brezza/Sonet category is where i think MG can really make an impact. The Maxus is a good effort but its not going to be massive in terms of volumes |

I mean they have done it earlier with Hector, having just a 10-15% incremental price as compared to much smaller Creta/Seltos. I think they can do it again with top end model at around 30is lakh OTR. That leaves a healthy gap of about 9-10 Lakh rupees between the top end hector and Gloster's prices. | |

| ![]() Wow, Interior looks cool! Classsy yet not too cluttered. Whats now to be seen is, Considering its an MG, will they give us a quality interior by bathing it in soft touch plastics or will they cut corners with a hard, scratchy dashboard. We'll have to wait to find out. Looks can be deceptive as seen with the MG Hector! Last edited by Starfire : 28th August 2020 at 10:45. |
