Even I thought the same thing. I guess it is because of the plain black bumpers that takes the sheen out of the car. The Hector plus looks much more glamourous than this

Again soft peddling the 'bigger than Landcruiser for you at half the price' troupe.

It is priced at par or below the Fortuner and Everest in Australia.

Fat chance it would succeed at the 50 lakh mark, regardless of the size or features.

But then again. Looking at the Hector's sales figures, can't predict the customers'.

80 lakh worth car for 50 lakhs or class leading features is not the issue with these cars. They are just too big for our roads. Be it this car or the carnival they could become impractical if that is the only car in the garage.

re: The MG Gloster, now launched at Rs 28.98 lakh

This is indeed a rebadged Maxus D90.We got to test it here in Dubai, but with 2.0T petrol engine. Only the AT lever transmission is different.Off road capability is decent in desert. So far only niggle has been with the infotaintment system and the blind spot monitoring system which was sorted out with a software update.

The 2.0diesel engine is good too with a VGT , we got to test it in a different model. But boy spares are gonna be expensive

re: The MG Gloster, now launched at Rs 28.98 lakh

We are looking to upgrade from our slew of Innovas and weren't particularly keen on the Endy or the Fortuner as they are pretty mainstream. Alturas G4 was also not that convincing because of its looks and last row comfort levels. But the Gloster could be the potential car we get as it has captain seats (which we are used to because of our Z trims) and overall features and interior of the car is better than the competition( even though it's obviously been copied). Not too keen on the looks but if priced right, may go for this.

The engine is not supplied by Fiat, but actually built by Shanghai diesel engine company in partnership with GM. The single turbo version produces 163 PS and 375 Nm and the figures for the twin turbo version is 218 PS and 480 Nm.

These cars are not driven by owners most of the time. Almost everyone who own these behemoths also have other smaller cars shared in the family.

re: The MG Gloster, now launched at Rs 28.98 lakh

There are a couple of reviews online on the international equivalent of this car. Most speak positively about it, looks like a value for money product actually.
I found it not exciting enough, rather not desirable enough. It is more of a people mover than a SUV per se. Posting a detailed review link below:

Few more pictures of the car in the red colour earlier spotted on a flatbed.

Those tyres are 21 inchers (265/45/R21) definitely not for the Indian market!

MG showcases Gloster's Automatic Parking Assist in teaser video

MG has released another teaser video of the Gloster showcasing some of its features. The SUV is scheduled to be launched this Diwali.

The Gloster will come with Level 1 autonomous driving capability. It comes equipped with Automatic Parking Assist. The system can parallel park the vehicle almost autonomously. A similar park assist feature was introduced in the Skoda Octavia, where the system takes charge of the steering and all the driver needs to do is operate the brake.

The SUV will also come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with voice commands, panoramic sunroof and an automatic tailgate.

In an earlier video, MG had highlighted some of the safety features that will be offered in the Gloster. Besides the automatic park assist, the SUV also gets radar guided cruise control and automatic emergency braking.

In India, the SUV could be powered by an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 218 BHP and 480 Nm. The engine could be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Is it something similar to what Ford has in Endeavour? Or is it a more advanced assist feature?

I love the traditional SUV looks that it has got. Looks butch and well proportioned. Sort of please all and offend none types.
At 0:12 in the above video shared by AirbusCapt, almost looks like a GLS 350 (last gen) from side rear view.

This is the difference between Ford and MG. Ford Endeavour has got this feature in new generation since its introduction in our market but other than people like us who else knows of this feature. Look at MG, they are showcasing this as if India has never seen anything like this before.

As per the sales guy from the local dealership, the on road price is expected to be between Rs 35 - 40L. Yes, on road, I reconfirmed.
